It's possible to get NFS4 working eventually with lots of messing about.

Best one of them all too

Porsche works fine in XP from what I remember.

Then all the others ain't worth bothering with anyway

Yeah it's possible. Turn off all audio acceleration by running dxdiag then it should work.

Hmm i dunno... i installed NFS1 and then set it up for 95 compatability mode and it didnt work - i cant imagine the audio acceleration being an issue. I could be wrong though !!

Pwig - just a thought...you could try a program called dosbox http://dosbox.sourceforge.net. Its free and runs most of my dos games like duneII etc etc... you'll have to follow some instructions to mount it up and get it running but theres a possability that could run it on xp !! You can slow the game down as well if its too fast.

Let me know if you try it !

Trust me. I have it working.

The audio acceleration on the later versions of Direct X cause problems with older games.

Just select run. Then type dxdiag. Select the sound tab and drag the slider all the way to the left.
It'll now run fine.

Windows compatability mode doesn't do st.

I'll have a play around with my installation when I get the chance and see if I can provoke it to tell me the same.

There is another way.....

Get yourself a copy of Microsoft's Virtual PC. Install it and then use it as a Windows 98 or 95 emulator. (You have to have the relevant media, it doesn't come with those OS'). Then you should be able to run any older game as before.

I occasionally use it for things that refuse to work properly under XP.
