I've got an old PS2 which is starting to act up. Just bought GT4 and it wont play, but it works on my son's friends machine.

So I'm presuming the game is ok, so what can I do to give my machine a bit of tender loving care and get it to play my game?

Gave it a good hoover out and used a cotton bud to clean the lens. Game now works champion.

My kids were given a PS2, the owner bought a new one because it wasn't working properly, I took it all apart and cleaned all the dust out of it and it's working fine.

Yup, mine did this. Bought GT4, played it, then it stopped working.... noooo!

Just stripped it, cleaned the lens with my jumper, and put it back together.

Then it worked again... yay!

I heard somewhere that if you played too many DVD's the unit burnt out, and this was confirmed here on PH the other day. Mine plays games, but doesnt always play movies well. Try a movie - if you still have problems after you've cleaned the unit, the laser might be on its way out - good luck mate
