How many people here play GTL with a keyboard?

I've always been a keyboard racer, even for hard-core sims like RBR and GPL. I lately downloaded the demo of GTL (it doesn't come out in Australian until next month), and am managing 7 to 10 seconds behind the AI on "professional" level (Dijon-Prenois GP track in a Lotus Elan).

Anyone got some good setup tips for keyboarders?

I couldn't imagine driving with the keyboard, I suppose there is a certain technique to it, but a big part of the immersion surely comes from using a steering wheel You can pick them up pretty cheaply these day so I can't imagine actually prefering to use the keyboard Even a cheap analogue joystick or joypad must be better?

But as long as you enjoy it I suppose that's all that counts!

I played the demo with the keyboard for a while, and actually went faster round Dijon GP in the Lotus than I've managed since with a wheel (with some aids on, obviously)!

No particular keyboard setup tips I'm afraid, I think the general setup advice remains the same whatever you're using. What do you want to change with the setup you've got?

My workstation isn't really set up to fit a wheel controller on. I need the space.

Yes, there is a technique involved with using the keyboard, but with simulation type games, it's more important to have the button filter setting set up correctly. Driving with a keyboard is a bit like using cadence braking/throttle, but with a computer keyboard... timing and reflexes are everything.

But without a good control setup, technique becomes useless. I'm experimenting at the moment, to find the best filter settings.
