Just wondered who had got the best lap in the Elan at the Dijon short circuit? I was hotlapping there at the weekend with a friend of mine.

My best was a 1:15.4 and his best was a 1:15.3. We're both convinced that a 1:50.0 is possible

I've just run a few laps (about 20) and managed a best time of 1:15.419, If I were to add my best splits it's close to 1:15.2xx but I can't get a complete clean lap in yet

I haven't unlocked either in the full game yet, and I only ever ran the full circuit in the demo, but they sound like competitive times to me...

It was actually the demo we were running, although he now has the full game - we were so impressed!

The only mar on the game really is that strange phenomenum where opposite lock makes oversteer worse, and positive lock can catch it... same as Grand Prix Legends... You don't come across it as often in GTL, but it is still there!

I tried really hard to get a 1:15.4, but it is so hard to go quicker Tricky circuit!

This actually works in real life - I've tried it. (in karts). I believe Jim Clark often used to use this technique too.

I did some thinking about what causes this, drew lots of diagrams etc and worked out that it was theoretically possible, but I've never heard of it being used in real life..

Can you tell me more? I'm very interested! Especially with regard to Jim Clark.

In GPL, virtually every time I got the car into a four wheel drift I found that opposite lock only made things worse! I've been racing for four years and I've never found this in real life (I've never spun a car, and only a kart once).

I think it basically works by pushing the front into understeering and making both ends slide at the same rate, meaning you're no longer oversteering but are in a four-wheel-drift. I will try and dig up some stuff on Clark.

Thanks. I can't remember what I worked out now sadly...
