Years ago, I heard that the PS2 burnt out, if you watched too many DVD's on it. Only recently has the PS2 started skipping and refusing to play DVD's. Ive not used it for games much, but have spent 500 hours watching DVD's on it. And am guessing that its finally... burnt out?

You probably just need a new laser for the dvd drive, fairly common problem. Should only cost a few quid to fix, get the parts off ebay and you might need a torx screwdriver.

Any DVD drive could burn out one supposeth, but I thought I heard that PS2's were prone to it. I cant remember and wondered if they were, generally speaking.

Im just going to PX the old girl in for a 360. And put in enough hours to make sure I finish San Andreas before I do
