Hi Chaps,

Everytime I try and log into a server on games such as BF2 and FEAR my internet seems to go down. FEAR also crashes just as its loading up a map. Can't work out what the problem is for the life of me. And I'm pretty sure it's not a firewall issue.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

i had fear crash on me when loading after i changed the graphics setting. God knows why. I am useing a New PC with FX-57 CPU and a 7800GTX so I should be able to set everything to max but when I did it crashed. so wehn I let the game set it up it worked fine.

Just a thought

All fixed. Took off Zone Alarm. Anyone know if the firewall in the Belkin router is any good?

I'm not. The only useful thing about software firewalls is that they tell you if some new program is trying to connect to the internet, can be handy for spotting malware, viruses etc. Decent up to date anti virus and anti spyware software should cover this though.

Even the most basic hardware firewalls will be better at protecting you from attacks coming from the internet.

Cheers for that. Might ditch Zone Alarm for good then.

sygate is a good software firewall.
free as well

I also like the fact that it tells you which programme is trying to access the internet.

The firewall market leader is checkpoint (software firewall)
