Just bought GTR - problems with it crashing
Discussion
I've installed the base game and upgraded to version 1.4, but everytime that I try to play a game it crashes during loading.
I suspect that the onboard graphics card (32Mb) is not the best.
Question is - what is the best/cost effective graphics card to put on an all-in-one mother board. The current chip is an SIS 661FX. Also, when I've fitted the new card how do I enable it rather than the built in one?
Cheers

It'll probably come with instructions, but basically:
Turn off + unplug PC. Wait 30 seconds.
Open case.
Insert new card.
Close case.
Plug everything back in and switch on.
It's possible that you have to change a setting in the BIOS to use the card instead of the on-board video but you'll soon find out if that's the case

I've got the 128Mb version and it's very good. It was the best I found for price vs performance. Couldn't quite justify 256Mb at the time but I'd go for it now.
TBH - I looked at the 128Mb and for an extra £20 more I went for the 256Mb as it should last me a while longer than a 128Mb card.
I'm about for racing.
And yeah - you'll be becoming very familiar wit the litter tray over the next week or so . I've been playing just over a week and i'm just learning the cars now. Its a total different animal to live for speed. Listen to the feedback in the wheel - it doesnt lie in GTR, especially in the rain!

Mm, I'm fairly new to "proper" sim-racing. I'm pretty good at Gran Turismo but GTR andGT Legends are a whole different kettle of fish
Once I've got my DFP set up then it's game on
(I have no illusions about not frequently ending up arse-end into the barrier for the first couple of weeks though )

Haven't found Monaco yet, and (off the top of my head) would suggest the '70s Le Mans cars - links to that in its own thread... Here: www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?t=218164&f=108&h=0
