I reinstalled HL tonight, download the 1.1.1.0 82mb patch, but when trying to run the game get the following message:

"Your version (1.1.1.0) of Half-Life is out of date, but there are no updaes to update half-life to the latest version"

I googled up a few sites, and 1.1.1.0 seems to be the latest version.

Would really like to play some TF, but cant log on until this problem is sorted. help, anyone?

You might find you need to install the Steam client, think you need that to play all Valve games online now. If you haven't looked already, Planet Half Life might be worth a look.

How would the game know the game was out of date if you weren't connected to the internet - try disconnecting.

Unless you're playing multiplayer in which case, you now have to use Steam. It's great it downloads the game for you so you never need your CDs again (but bummer if you have limited-MB broadband!).

Not sure what steam is, but I got it running ok with the 1.1.1.1 patch. Sure brings back happy fragging memories (and a lot of wasted time )

Do people still play TF(C) then?

I used to be quite handy at that. Shame Valve destroyed it by completely changing the game mechanics, netcode and introducing a load of nasty exploits when it had been out for ages already. Never played it again after that.
