Step 1: Rip the DVD.
I use DVD Decrypter.
A good how-to guide on ripping the file into the correct format here

This will create a .vob file on your hard drive (tell DVD Decrpyter where to save it.)

2. Convert it to the correct format.
I use PSP Video9
This does everything else really, converts the file to MPEG4 format, and then automates the process of re-naming the file and transferring it to your PSP.

To transfer the file, you will need to connect the PSP to your pc with a USB cable (exactly the same as the cables that come with digi camers) and set the PSP to USB mode.

There's also this, but not sure what it actually is - it may just be a lod of free tools published on one CD, but it's a start:

p.s. On PSP 9 what profile are people using that gives a half decent dvd quality whilst keeping the file size managable?

i.e. Step 10 here > www.mobiledeviant.com/forum/showthread.php?t=901
