So... what is a competitive time in the maseratis around brands?

I've only done a few laps so far, so I don't suppose my times are competitive yet, but my clean laps were in the mid 1:35s I think...

Few more laps - any advance on 1:35.101? I need a target guys, even the AI are leaving me behind!

1min 9secs is my best
In the F1 on my first run

For the masser, I am unsure, but i've got a server up called 'PH' now for you all if you like

Edit: mine looks about 1.34ish now after a few laps.

Reasonable enough comparison I suppose.

1m33.4 but I've not been able to get near it again! Keep running wide and bending the car.

Looks like I won't be able to make it on Monday evening - could do Sunday though...?

Just started playing with the setup a bit, and I've got down to 1:33.7. I was 0.4 quicker on the next lap until I stuffed it

I'm no setup guru - far from it, but it seems there's time to be gained with a bit of tweaking! Ah well, back to it!

OK, I'm happy 1.32.240. Bit of a one-off, and I'm not sure the tyres will last 20 mins driving it like that, but there you go. If anyone wants the setup or replay or both, just drop me an email.

Grrr... 20kg Ballast is really going to screw it though!

I guess I'll have to do some practice this time.

My thoughts exactly when I read these times. Just had a quick 10 lap session and got down to a 1:32.6 with a full race fuel load, and wasn't by any means a clean lap.

Based on this and the times from last time at Brands I'll be just about on the pace, so it will be my usual problem of whether I can keep it pointing the right way for the whole race.

Yep, as I was running at Assen last time my lap times were tumbling by about 0.5-1s per lap each lap I did, not really though learning the track as I knew it already but through learning how the car handles and what it takes to get the best from it. The last BH race I did was my first Masser race (no practice beforehand) and the Assen one my 2nd.

If I remember you can be early on the throttle with these out of corners without too much understeer.

Bugger, just got a 1:38, thought I was doing pretty well

Haven't yet.

General tips..er.......try using a higher gear for some corners, be back on the throttle earlier out of the corners, try not to lift on the exits. Speed down the following straight is essential.

Another tip - if you are using the gear indicator things, ignore them. They tell you to be in 2nd gear for 3rd gear corners, and a couple of places (such as dingle dell I think) you can straightline the chicane in 5th at full throttle - i think the indicator tells you to use 2nd.

Granted if you do straightline the chicane in fifth you'll likely throw it off straight after, but 4th is ok.

I was the first to complain about the gear indicators, until I found out they are actually corner severity indicators I'm still not convinced they're entirely accurate.

Indeed, they're not gear indicators just corner severity indicators. They still seem to be quite a way off on some corners though - they certainly were at Assen.

Haven't been using them at Brands myself, I know my way around. You're probably better off without them once you know the circuit.

5th through Dingle Dell? That's definitely 4th for me, and it still gets a bit hairy over the curbs!

As for setup, apart from tyre pressures which I found much too high (but then I slide quite a lot), I found some benefit from reducing the caster on the front wheels. Makes the car a bit livlier, but it seems to suit my driving style...

Is that the Uwe Alzen four wheel drive job? Can't drive that thing! No grip at the front whatsoever, and after one lap, even with the front tyres at their lowest pressure I've overheated them something chronic.

Anyone got a setup for it?

The manual actually quotes these arn't gear indicators, but corner severity indicators!
