Path of Exile 2 (Early Access)
Discussion
Has anyone picked this game up?
I play Diablo 4 regularly and I have seen mentioned a lot! Lots of the Diablo 4 player base has disappeared since this released on the 6th!
I picked it up having never played Path of Exile 1, just to see what all the fuss is about! Its very difficult to pick up from new, it definitely needs many hours spent into it, with lots of trial and error.
First 5 hours of playing, what I will say is that its very difficult vs any other game in the genre. Enemy types are so variant across the board, boss fights have multiple changing mechanics through the fight. It is very easy to die.
I tried watching tutorials or beginners guides, but to be honest I don't think there's much else better than getting stuck in and giving it a whirl, using them as backup to dissect what you need to know at the time.
I don't get much time over the December period to properly get stuck in to games, but after new year I plan to give it a bit of an effort, starting fresh from whatever I can learn in the mean time!

I've got it primarily because of the people I've been playing games for 25 years with, I didn't get on with PoE1 and much prefer D4, I'll probably give it a whirl over christmas but my spiritborn is 60/285 so would love to finish that off before the end of the season.
One of our group is forever trying to drag us over to PoE so of course he loves it, the others have come back to D4.

D4 is definitely the better choice for casual gamers. I keep hearing about how PoE2 will kill off D4 but I don't think that will happen, Diablo has a pretty safe market share in the casual ARPG sphere. Gamers looking for a bit more depth, or a lot more depth, will naturally end up on PoE2 just as they found themselves on PoE before it.

Have to agree with that so far, I've barely had chance to really play much but I have Act 2 to start when I can next get on the playstation.Initial thoughts, having not experienced end game yet, is that PoE2 is a lot more involved - at the risk of sounding rude, you have to be a bit of a gamer geek to really get stuck into PoE and get advanced with it. With Diablo 4 its really quite simple. Once you figure out the Paragon Board thats all there really is to it.
I will 100% return to Diablo 4 when season 7 starts next year, but for now ticking over on PoE2 and trying to figure it out is rather enjoyable! It's not about the grind to me and just enjoying it! Breath of fresh air to be honest!
