Is The Last of Us part III going to happen?

I am yet to finish the second one, but I'm replaying number 1 at the moment so I will get around to it, so I don't want to do any googling in case I get spoilers for how 2 will end.

Anyone know if 3 will be a thing?

I do hope so as these 2 games are my all time favourites, and the way the 2nd one ends would suggest so.

Is it? Didn't mean it to be? Can't be a secret there are two games, regardless of what happens in the second one, a third game in a franchise can always happen, so not sure anything is being spoiled?

I'd fully expect a 3rd one. Even if it was conceived as a two-part game in the first instance, the high rating it's received and the publicity as a result of the TV series surely make it too much of a sure fire bet to ignore. I wasn't so keen on the second one myself, loved the first one though.

Apparently in the works but there has been no official confirmation yet. If I was a betting man, given the second season of the TV show is due late 2025, I'd expect them to announce Part III in the lead up to that, even though it'll likely be well in advance on any actual release date.

Yep, second one didn't grab me like the first, but I just can't put my finger on why. The actual gameplay, graphics etc are amazing, but there's obviously a reason I didn't finish it and still haven't.....

They'll need to release the remaster of the remake of Part I and the remake of the Part 2 remaster first.
