VR Headset to replace TV?
Discussion
I’ve got a Samsung Frame with all the wires chased in to the walls, so I don’t want to move it or replace it, but my Xbox Series X just will not work with it - ridiculously…
Is it possible to use a VR headset with the Xbox Series X instead of a TV?
I’m not meaning necessarily for proper VR games, I just mean instead of the TV?
Anyone tried it?

Haven't got one but was intrigued by the fact that you can't play Xbox on it, according to a Reddit thread you can download the Xbox app onto your TV and then play it the same as you would from a laptop. It's going to be crap for P2P stuff but it's worth a try
Interesting… and also, I just signed in to the Samsung Game Hub, where there’s millions of Xbox games I can play without even having an Xbox!?!.Digger said:
What's the technicality that prevents it from working?
Not a clue - it just won’t “find” the Xbox regardless of what HDMI it is plugged into. But, if you look at my post above, I wonder if Samsung’s Game Hub service is why they are trying NOT to let people plug a physical Xbox in?

If Samsung did that deliberately, it would just end up hurting their sales as people would avoid their TVs But, if you look at my post above, I wonder if Samsung’s Game Hub service is why they are trying NOT to let people plug a physical Xbox in?
Personally, I'd just sort the issue with the TV, sitting there like a gonk with a VR head set on just because your TV doesn't work sounds like a terrible solution.
Also, this is part of the reason I've always thought these flush-fit, seamlessly integrated media setups are a bad idea, as soon as you need to get to the cables for any reason you're stuffed and everything is way harder than it needed to be.
I wonder if you need to knock back the resolution / frame rate or other setting in the Xbox so the frame can then read it.
If my sky / Apple TV is set too high my projector won’t play the content where as my Samsung tv will take anything. The projector just just shows a green screen if the settings are too high. Some 4k and UHD are higher def than others it seems.

It's not fixable, that's the issue, these TVs don't work with Xbox.Mastodon2 said:

I can get to all the cables easily, The Frame has all the HDMI slots, USB slots etc in the "One Connect" box which is how they make the TV so thin. But, it turns out that these TVs don't work with Xbox...Sterillium said:

It’s just a signal after all

I've tried everything that has been suggested (I had another thread on it) and everything I can find online, but to no avail. It just seems insane to me that a TV would be made that can't find a console connected by HDMI! It's bizarre.Sounds like you need the new apple eye thingy…it’s 3k but sounds ace.

Equally baffled by the non compatibility and it would aggravate me for sure - but in answer to the thread title -
I brought a Quest 3 recently specifically to learn piano (working well) but obviously I experimented with using it as a tv as well -
It's technically amazing, real VR, 3D etc. but blimey it's heavy and cumbersome to wear on your head for extended periods, and having a scotch or a cup of tea while watching something is impossible. And apparently it's considerably lighter than the previous version.
The Apple version sounds slimmer but a lot more wonga and if I was spending that much I'd want something no heavier than spectacles.

Why doesn’t it work?
Sometimes it just doesnt happen. My Xbox 1 wasn't recognised by my Panasonic plasma on either HDMI port.Same console on a Sony LED/LCD is immediately identified but the Xbox will not accept that it is HDR capable.
I now have an Xbox-X but I've had so many problems that it is sat by the leg of my desk here and it hasn't been connected since Christmas...
