I've got 3 copies of the first one, one bought and 2 freebies. I've yet to play it. Too much of a scaredy cat.
After the first couple of Xenomorph instakills I had no shame in putting it into Easy mode. Still more than enough tension to make it an amazing experience.I believe there are mods that'll put you into a "story" mode where it's very hard to die. Or dial back the creepy stomping of the Xeno in the ducts.
I enjoyed the whole of the story, but found the enforced lethargy of the pressure suit levels annoying, albeit I acknowledge they were incredibly (ironically) atmospheric.

Sort of similar here. I've got a copy on PC and another for xBox, yet to play either. Not found the time, or been in the mood for that sort of game, which really annoys me as I really want to play it!!!I played it on Hard mode as I felt the Xeno should be as deadly in the game as it is in the movies. Years of playing dark souls prepared me for the sheer number of deaths. i wish I had a count. It must have been way in the hundreds and was exceedingly frustrating at points. I was terrified for the entire game.
I agree entirely that the main campain drags later on.
The DLC has some cracking experiences that don't drag at all and are really worth a play through after the campaign.
Cheers

I'm a glad it exists, and it's probably the best Alien game ever... But it was too scary for me
It was also ridiculously well optimised for such a pretty game. FPS was way higher than it had any right to be.
I just wished they'd done an aliens style version that toned down the jump scares and helplessness one for some marine based action - but retaining some of the fear of being insta-killed.

I bought the original twice, once on disc then a few years alter digitally along with all the DLC. I loved it both times but I agree that the 3rd act wasn't as good.
Did you try some of the DLC challenge stuff? When the points count down with time for each part of the challenge/tasks for each level? i think they were great. Zero faff. Just straight into danger the second you open the door from your starting roomSteven_RW said:

It’s getting on a bit, but AVP1 and AVP2 from (iirc) GoG are both cheap, on offer regularly, and are fun and very atmospheric. You have story modes as both marines, aliens and predator iirc.
Lots of fun multiplayer/skirmish modes too.
You could in one mode start as face hugger, then after hugging, spawn as a chest burster, then after a few kills become an alien, then another few kills and you’d be a queen.
On LAN with friends this was really fun!
Or just start as marines with tons of guns and face waves of AI aliens.
I keep seeing Isolation for sale on GoG but know I’d never get round to playing it. Too scary

Aye... They were great. As was the PS alien trilogy game. That captured the feel of the films too. You have story modes as both marines, aliens and predator iirc.

Got to say I did also enjoy the recent RTS aliens game a lot.
