I have heard all about various online adventure games - massively detailed, lots of character development, trading, fighting etc etc

So, which game/s are best?

If you're happy with text-based stuff, there are a lot MUDs (Multi-User Domains/Dungeons) that are fantastically well-developed. The best I found in my brief MUDding career was phoenix mud and medieavia. You'll have to google for them though, as it's been that long since I played ;-)

Otherwise I have no personal experience with full-graphics 3D-style virtual environments, but apparently World of Warcraft is the current in thing...

KINGDOM OF LOATHING: is a browser based adventure, and its a quite surreal one at that. free to play

NATION STATES: another browser based game, run your own country, decide what ever you want it to do. free to play

EVE ONLINE: i'm currently loosing my life to this game. if youve ever played elite, and wanted an up to date version with thousands of people online at once and shiney graphics, then this is it. costs: the client can be bought for about £15 or downloaded, and then approx £17 pound a month

Does it really cost that much?
The website says 10 Euros a month, I was looking at playing it for that little, I think I'll give it a miss at £17/month.

It's still there in the one game for £5 or 3 games for £10. Almost got it today but hadn't read the reply about the cost of it. Also can't really justify spending £100 per year on a computer game.

World of Warcraft is one hell of a massive game, I played it for a month, then had to stop as I was loosing my life.. .. .. .. ..

there is absolutly no end to this game, before anyone gets near to finishing they go and unlock loads more of the game so you have shedloads more to do! their is still some parts of the world that are not fully open, yes you can roam around killing things and all the rest but the quests are not there yet.. .. ..

great game, but my advice is DONT DO IT! its sooo damn addictive, I was even eating my dinner playing the damn thing!
