Can it run Crysis? (Avatar content)
Discussion
For those of a certain age and those who were PC enthusiasts, Crysis was always the 'ahead of its time' game which really tested your hardware.
I thought the recent Alan Wake may take that crown as without some Nvidia trickery, maxed out with ray tracing resulted in less than appealing frame rates; however, the new King in town is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
My system:
14900 cpu / Z790 motherboard / 7200 DDR5 / Nvidia 4090FE
There's a setting you can unlock called 'unobtanium' which allows better than ultra settings on a few options and with that enabled, at a 4k res, with no help from DLSS / FSR / Frame gen (although the DLSS is pretty poor - someone has already released a 3.5 mod) I get around 26 to 30ish fps. With DLSS on, it's 40ish.
And yes of course, you can alter some settings which, in reality, have very little impact on the look of the game and make it run heaps better, but I thought I would give it a try on the highest level just to remind me of those Crysis days. It didn't disappoint!

Still a beautiful game, fantastic screenshots there
I never quite got into the game itself, the gameplay always irked me a little, though I'm not quite sure why.
It's still a "joke" between my offspring and I; every time one of us gets a new device of any kind - even the infotainment system in cars - we must ask the question "Very nice, but can it run Crysis?"
