I usually fly the A10 in DCS so this has never really been a problem but decided to do a little old school flying today in the F-86 ...

I spent about 4 hours messing with the Target Software and got nowhere .... Well I did actually manage to get the EAC switch on the throttle to work the gear up and down but that was it.

Am I missing something or just ####### stupid ?

Granted I've not read the manual properly !

I had TM kit for about five years and never once touched the Target software. Just map the binds within DCS.

Oh, and it seems the only time I notice your posts they are about DCS, are you aware of the Eagle Dynamics Forum?

Yup well aware of ED Forums.

Mapping the switches in DCS doesn’t work properly because they can only have one action.

Eg for the gear in DCS I would have to toggle the switch up and down twice to lower and raise the gear.

Using Target you can program the switch to work on / off.

How did you get round that limitation in DCS without using Target ?

DCS allows each input to have an OFF function too, so if your ON-OFF toggle switch is input 17 for example, then set 17 as 'Gear Down', and 17-OFF as 'Gear Up'. That way you can essentially have two functions from a simple toggle. When input 17 is active, there will be a gear down input, when 17 is inactive, there is a gear up input.

It's a relatively recent addition, but means you don't need to install ON-OFF-ON switches for use as toggles. It's also how the IDLE/CUTOFF throttle detent works (input 30 IIRC)

Yeah I’ve never touched the target software either and I’ve had no bother mapping anything

Good to know how did you deal with the on / off switch situation before it was implemented in dcs or is LD just been kind to me and it’s been in dcs for years hehe

Yeah, when I said 'relatively recent' I meant more than two, less than five years. The problem is, unless you look into in the input drop down list, you won't see them as it doesn't automatically pick up the 'release' function as 'OFF'. That and the DCS manual updates are few and far between.

MSFS has a similar function IIRC, but implemented in a slightly more intuitive way.
