Thrustmaster or logitech?
Discussion
Ho folks. My Mrs got me a series s for Christmas (previously been playing on a borrowed Xbox 360).
Mainly playing Forza horizon 4 (due to smaller size than 5) and Motorsport, having used the 360 for fm4.
Fancy getting a wheel, probably second hand. Any advantage of one over the other for a beginner or just go for whichever one I can get in decent nick at a fair price?

Yeah, I have an old trusty G25 and although I'm sure more expensive, modern, wheels would provide an even better experience it's just great being able to have something approximating a real-world setup of wheel, gears and pedals.
The only thing I would say is make sure you have somewhere you can easily set the whole thing up. I bought a Wheelstand Pro at the time I got the wheel which is a pretty 'compact' way of storing the wheel and then quickly setting it up but it still needs quite a bit of floor space when it's out plus it still is quite a faff to get it ready for use even with the Wheelstand and as a result doesn't get taken out and used nearly as often as I would like.
If you had enough space of course, you could go for a full-time cockput setup which would be the ultimate solution.

I have a logitech G92(9?) and my brother has a thrustmaster set up which ost around the same. In my opinion his is much nicer all settings fiddled about with etc. Smoother inputs feeks more like a real car and less like an arcade in terms of force feedback. Pedal box on the logitech the brake pedal is super stiff. If its your first wheel I'd personally just go a cheap spring resistance one from experience just as much fun doing that and an ironing board as current setup with a stand and all that. I went the logitech because I wanted the h pattern attachment and something that would work on both xbox s and pc.

Interesting comparison between new logitech and used thrustmaster, comes to the same conclusion as above, thrustmaster just much better all round.

I started off years ago with a microsoft sidewinder FFB wheel, A great bit of kit in it's day, I then bought a mint 2nd hand G25 for £50, Loved that wheel for what i paid for it, I even stripped it down and greased up the gears to quieten it a bit and extend it's life, Got about 4 years use out of it and replaced it with a Thrustmaster T300 RS with the TP3A Gt pedals, Thrustmaster is a bit more refined but then it cost a lot more. Still have all my wheels as well as a logitech momo FFB! I nearly forgot about that one!
I still have my original Sidewider FFB wheel up in the attic. I loved it back in the day, many happy hours playing Midtown Madness amongst others.
Unfortunately it's the version that only has 'Original PC Gameport' support (you used to find the port on Soundblaster cards and such) and can't be adapted to USB. I think later versions either came with USB or could be adapted .. I have a Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick using the same kind of interface that has a USB adapter that works great even on modern PCs.
