Do I get back into PS gaming?
Discussion
Crikey, it's been a while... Used to play a st tonne of Gran Turismo, then Battlefield, up to BF1. Then Spiderman really shone, to the point it's the only game I've platinumed.
But, since then fell out of love, and life got hectic so finding time just wasn't on the cards.
Life is changing a bit, and I've been enjoying CoD on my Android phone!
So, do I get back in over Christmas? PS5, Spiderman 2 - then GTA when it arrives with perhaps Space Marine 2 to enjoy the campaign on in the meantime?
This is the first time I've not bought the latest PlayStation on launch day.
Am I missing out? What other games do people recommend? I like good stories, but not searching for an hour for a crevice in a cave - give me a decent 'managed' campaign and I'll have fun. Open world isn't my bag really.

I can't be dealing with PC gaming - have never gotten my head around keyboard/mouse controls, nor the whole operating of the system/games...
I'm a Luddite! Just want to press a button and it's all simple and just works!
It does takee a bit of getting used to (and I am not there yet)..... But the graphics and speed are so much better I think it is worth it... I'm a Luddite! Just want to press a button and it's all simple and just works!
Also if you are happy with the "older" games, I have Days Gone, Fallout 4 GOTY, 3 GOTY, Horizon etc and all 5-10 each....

Don't forget Spiderman Miles Morales.
God of War (4) was ace, followed by Ragnarok (not as good but good)
And Last of Us (1&2)
What are the GoW games like?God of War (4) was ace, followed by Ragnarok (not as good but good)

Are they similar to, say, Tomb Raider with lots of searching/etc. or more like Spiderman/GTA where whilst you can go roaming the campaign story itself is pretty linear?
If you have the time, why not! I always argue with friends that me playing 2 hours of a game is equally the same as sitting watching tv for 2 hours!
There’s plenty of games about, just what tickles your fancy!
Personally I just play Gran Turismo at the moment, I dabbled into Diablo but it’s not quite the same for me as 3.
The new weekly’s suit me to play gran Turismo twice a week, and when I have any other spare time I lap nurburg a few times and thoroughly enjoy it!
Ps deals around Xmas and after will be pretty decent, usually get a basic game with a package but it depends what floats your boat!
Get yourself a PlayStation, make do with playtime when you like and don’t let it take over your real life priorities, jobs a good’un!

I enjoy my PS5, I don't really compare it to my gaming pc. I'm looking at a 2nd hand GPU for a video editing pc for my wife and the GPU alone costs pretty much the same as a PS5. So I see them as entirely different things. PS5 gfx are more than good enough. Heck I still enjoy PS4 games on the PS5.
Anyway - one thing you might want to consider is a nintendo switch. You get that ease of access you have enjoyed with your android phone and a whole market of simple fire up games. The system goes into sleep when you hit the power button so when you pick it up you are exactly where you were when you left it. Makes a great way to just game on the go when you get a moment.
I've been playing PS3 GTA IV and Nintendo Switch Mario Bros U and my main gaming pc has been sitting off.
PS5 is a quality piece of kit and hooks up very nicely to a modern 4k tv if you have one.

We have a switch, I've never really gelled with it - nothing has really grabbed me as the sort of immersive escapism something like the best playstation games has given me.
Fun, yes, having a family mariokart battle - but I've not found any games that really make me want to pick it up and plough on like Spiderman or GTA.
PC definitely isn't happening. Just not my cup of tea.
Have a 4k LG OLED, and new year brings a nice Sony HT-A70007 soundbar. Somewhat annoyingly, my LG is the generation that got ARC, but was just a little too early for eARC.

Get a decent box for streaming the PC to the TV .. an nVidia shield is pretty good for optimum features but lots of digital streaming boxes (and Smart TVs for that matter) have Steamlink and Moonlight clients.Anyway - one thing you might want to consider is a nintendo switch. Pretty much completely replicates the console experience with the benefits of the PC.

As for my current situation I have a 120hz 4k 42" LG Oled here on my desk. Attached to it are my PS5, gaming PC, PS3, Wii u and all the rest. I have an Xbox Elitre v2 controller for my gaming PC for the games that want that type of control. So I feel I have the best of both worlds.
I do sometimes use the PS4 Pro in the living room and use it to stream the PS5 games on to the livingroom TV. That works reasonably well as another option.

This is pretty much exactly what i like. I don't mind a little bit of looking around or a bit of skill / weapon tree development, but i'm not one for games where it feels like you need to play for 20hrs to understand the basic interface or know what to do with an item you pick up. To that end i would recommend:- Star Wars Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi Survivor
- The Resident Evil remakes (I've only played RE 4 and it was great)
- Alan Wake 1 and 2.
You might like Ratchet and Clank. It was the game that came with my PS5, it's about 20-30 hours long, it's really easy to pick up and play, the script is funny and best of all it really shows off what the solid state drive is capable of as you instantly warp seamlessly between dimensions. It's a nice intro to the PS5

Loved R&C on the PS4!Just picked up God of War (2018) from Game for the PS4 for £8...
And pretty certain I'll be picking up a PS5 after Christmas...
I use my Xbox as my main system and only play exclusives on the PS5.
God or War and Ragnorok
Spiderman games
Ratchet and Clank
Detroit Become Human
The Last of Us 1 & 2
Bloodbourne
Horizon Forbidden West
Gran Turismo Sport and 7
Killzone Shadow Fall (wish they would remake 2 and 3, amazing games)
Sure there are loads more exclusives but these are must plays.
