It needs version 1.52 of the firmware to run :( I don't want to update, as I want to make software for the PSP, and short of taking a paycut, moving house, and working 80+ hour weeks for a development house, that can't happen with 1.52

Has anybody managed to downgrade to 1.50 with the update in, say TOCA 2, from 1.52 or 2.0???

I'm running 2.0 and tried to down grade to 1.5 with Tony Hawks and it wouldnt let me. Once upgraded you're well and truely stuck with it unfortunately.

Noooooo!

Maybe I just need to bite the bullet, get a UK PSP and keep my current PSP for development / two player TOCA 2. I'd rahter spend the money on a track day though.

Is TOCA 2 really worth getting, I have it on the PS2 and think that its realistic but get annoyed that I have to press the accelerator as hard as possible all the time (damn my old controller!).

By the way - any one want to buy a copy of F1 Grand Prix - only used once. Its great.....honest.

TOCA 2 works on 1.50 (comes with the upgrade for it too). Very good. Get it direct from codemasters if you don't mind waint a day - about £29, other internet places may do it cheaper, but they don't generally deliver as fast. You then also get money off other stuff they do (Colin McRea for instance).

Edit - sorry, forgot to say that running on 1.5+ means it'll be fine for 1.51, so long as it passed Sony's quality control.

I really don't want to upgrade (I'm on 1.50) - is there a list anywhere of games which do/don't require an upgrade??

I will be really really ed off if burnout needs an upgrade!

CMR failed submission becuase of the firmware situation, Codies made the game on 1.50 I presume, but Sony insisted that it should run on v2 or something as that was just out. Codies argued that they couldn't be expected to make it work on v2 as it wasn't available until after they'd finished development! Obviously somethings been arranged as its on the shelves already.

As far as I know F1 and WRC should run fine on 1.50.

Apparently its possible to alter the version number on the 1.50 firmware to something else. Which is supposed to be handy for games that 'require' the newer ones .

This won't work for something that really does require some feature only in the newer firmware, but I don't think there are any games like that on the market yet.

anybody used it? the fact there's no source code doesn't fill me with confidence about it.

Seems like other people have, and it works. I shall try tonight, and report back on weather or not I have bricked my PSP
