This is going to sound like an ad, but it’s not biggrin I took my son and nephews to Arcade Club in Bury last week what an awesome trip back in time it turned out to be for 45 year old me. 4 floors of Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Time Crisis, Outrun, Sega Rally etc. just about any old arcade game you can think of is there. I need to go back during term time time to really enjoy it. I would reccomend it to anyone who grew up in 80s and 90s arcade machine.

That looks brilliant - my son would absolutely loved that. I’ve been lucky enough to have lived through the 80s golden age of arcades!

Might take him a trip to Bury or Leeds

I’ve been to the Leeds branch a few times and it’s very good. The only problem is they don’t have any new games when I’ve been back.

I was surprised by how well the old games have held up, I though they seem really hokey by modern console standards. They’re still fun and addictive despite the ancient graphics. I could have stayed blasting things on Time Crisis all day.

There's a similar thing opened in Halifax now, Halifax retro station. I've not been yet but it looks good.

There's something similar in Liverpool at the old Cains brewery (ArCains), but I don't think I found a single machine that didn't have some fault or another, which means you can't really get the full enjoyment out of them.

Sometimes it's just flickering graphics, other times the joystick or buttons don't work, and not one of their pinball machines had all their flippers working.

I thought that might be the case at Arcade Club, but 99% of the machines were spot on, with only 1 or 2 that I came across with any kind of problem.

I’ve been to the Bury place and the Leeds one twice, the Bury centre is the best of those two but Leeds is just closer to home.

A great way to relive your youth and try some games you’ve never seen or played.
