Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Thread
Discussion
To carry on from the Switch thread, I fully kitted out the Purah Pad last night. I can already see how the Travel Medalion will come in useful. It was actually available as part of Breath of the Wild's DLC, though I barely ever used it as I'd beaten the game and had completed almost everything that was available.
Is anybody messing about with the Amiibo unlocks? I picked up a 37x set of Amiibo cards from Amazon and they've proven rather useful and quite fun. Decent/rare weapons and items, along with some armour and paraglider fabric unlocks.

Got it last week, didn't play BOTW and the last Zelda game I played was Ocarina of time!
So far I love it. I'm not far in, just got to the bit after you get the glider where you have 4 objectives to go and check out but on the way to one I ran into this guy who told me I had to go and see this other person who was ALL THE WAY BACK THE WAY I'D COME. So I'm trudging back lol.
(appreciate that's the worst description of progress ever)
My early thoughts; it's a beautiful game. I have an Xbox X as well and I know the Switch is hardware limited but this is a genuinely gorgeous game. The sunsets, the noise of the environment, everything about it is amazing. The world never feels empty.
The opening was really good as well, as I said I didn't play BOTW but it was still really dramatic.
I've seen some of the stuff online people are doing with the building dynamic and it's mind blowing how they made this game. So far the most complicated thing I've built is a cart I can't yet steer but even the gliders you can stick and engine too and launch are so much fun.
I love the way the game just leaves you alone to do anything you want pretty much, although at times it does mean you end up dead but that's the worst that happens tbf. Just like OOT I've got far too much enjoyment from the little things, like cooking.
Not been this engaged in a game in a while but I think it'll take me a while to finish at my pace.

Suitability thoughts for my almost 11 year old son?
You thinking too old or too young? I'm 38 and loving it if that helps I'm maybe not far enough in to comment fully but nothing I've seen so far would make me say it wasn't suitable. The puzzles are a little tricky but there are multiple solutions, I think he'd enjoy it.

My own experience is I feel there is a steep learning curve, which the game tries to mitigate as best as it can with 1) the opening area acting as a tutorial and 2) many of the things down on Hyrule taking their time to explain things to you, such as NPC characters giving you exposition and shrines acting as mini puzzles to show you how and what you can do with your abilities.I'm about 35 hours in, taking my time and I'm only now feeling comfortable with everything, but with the knowledge that I've barely made any real progress at all with the main story and the many missions and side quests etc.

My 8 year old is way ahead (and way better) than me. The puzzles are awesome and at least so far are nowhere near as obscure as the ones in BotW. No gore, no major scares and quite possibly one of the greatest sandboxes put together.
Managed to get the item duplication glitch working after news of a new software patch released (good news, it doesn't break the glitch).
I feel really dirty now. Managed to generate 15k rupees in a matter of minutes... Now working on duplicating Zonaite to boost my batteries.
I hope it's not like Link's Awakening where the game permanently renames you "Thief" after you successfully steal from the shop!

I like what you did there. Most quoting 1 week plus for delivery ?
Sadly, the version I bought from Amazon (Prime delivery) has been pulled. Bought it a couple of weeks ago in anticipation.
My advice would be to seek out one of the 38x card sets, as that will also include the Tears of the Kingdom link card. I need to seek that one out alone, which will either set me back ~£10 or try my luck at the official Amiibo @ £13.
