Just a quick question do you need Xbox Live for Fortnite?
Missus has been paying £10.99 a month for the premium pass thing on Xbox because her son "needs" it for Fortnite which I'm under the impression he doesn't.
He only plays Minecraft, Fortnite and Warzone as far as I'm aware doesn't need Live for any of them?

He probably needs it to talk to his mates. I thought it was mandatory for online multiplayer too? On PlayStation you can play it online and use voice chat without having to pay for PlayStation online/plus/whatever it’s called.
Fortnite is a great game IMO, the concept of once-you-are-dead-you-are-out is fantastic, coupled with the reducing map to prevent people just hiding.
A breath of fresh air compared to the frantic run gun repeat gameplay of modern FPS.
I which they could do something similar with the battlefield franchise so it makes squads use tactics to stay alive rather than suicide runs and respawns

Pretty much played Battlefield with my mates since the start, then a year or so back one of their gaming PCs blew up so we needed a game with low requirements he could play on his laptop, and gave fortnite a go.
It's now all we play on our Thursday night gaming session, it's a right laugh.

You need an Xbox Live account, but you no longer need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play Fortnite.
Microsoft opened up free play multiplayer on a whole bunch of games earlier this year

The problem I have with the Battle Royal style games is the lack of any decent tiering, I am rubbish, no amount of hours playing is going to make me any better (not that I have the spare hours to spend trying) but I never get put into a game with similarly rubbish players!
I think the Fortnite matchmaker has been pretty reasonable for the last few years. A few weeks into each season I don't see hordes of pro-builders or shotgunners anymore Ok - I need a bit of help here. PBJnr3 wants to have Fortnite on his PS4 but how do we start this? Do we need a particular disc to get going, or download a particular file? There seems to be a few different things out there but I’m not sure where to start. And this sort of game is def not my thang, so I’m lost before I’ve started…
