As we keep derailing the "recommend me a PC game" thread: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Has anyone else noticed that the most recent update has really slowed down battle & campaign loading times?

No performace issues in battle (yet).

I can't help with that specific issue despite having this since alpha as, since the move to Steam, the games pretty broken for me which is obviously a "me" issue rather than a general game issue.

Guess I'll have to wipe and reinstall and see if that fixes it as simply checking thelocal cache didn't fix the issue.

Same here - I've been on since Alpha with no real issues. (Unless I was really pushing it with say....80 transports and a BC with a massive secondary build)

Since the Steam release and I guess an increase in players/development it's start to make my ol' PC sweat.

Building this caused a brief system slow down... deffo something not quite right with the game engine.

Something you might find interesting: Brother Munro has been doing a historical battleship league on youtube in asscoacation with Drachinfel:

Division 4 starts here and is complete:

Historical build videos are here:

Division 3 is currently ongoing, it's interesting stuff.

Eh, odd. This is the first one of the builds in division 4, should be one long playlist with all the subsequent battles etc:

If you look on his playlists on his channel they are all there, it's good stuff.

I've done an HMS Hood recreation, went with twin 3" secondary guns for their look rather than the KGV style larger calibre guns option. I did do it from a later1925 year to try and get a better range of hulls and options.

Next up will be a planned 1930s rebuild that never got around to be done in real life, along the lines of Renown.

PS. not very happy with hull length, to get the weight right and the superstructure fitting the deck the stern is too long for Hood.

That's brilliant! smile

I've been playing around with BC fits using rapid firing 10" guns - it's hilarious! biggrin

I had a BC with 18 14 inch guns on it, doing 32 knots. If you could get up close it was hilariously lethal.

The trick was actually getting up close.

I think I had to drop it to paper armour to make it work. Got very explode but could really do some damage.

Wasn't a very practical campaign ship.

HMS Nelson is tough, I can't get the G3/N3 hull with armour, superstructure and guns below 38k t and it needs to be 34k. Also 6" secondary guns can't fit at the back so they end up being KGV style amidships.

"Some guns have poor sector of fire" if only the admiralty had used this to design them.

Very nearly there though! smile

I've been trying to play a 1940 campaign as the Germans... three observations:

1) It seems to be impossible to win, or even survive more than a year or two. (Maybe that will change if subs get released?)
2) The campaign generation time has gone from 1-2mins to 5mins+
3) Clicking next turn results in a wait-hang-on-has-it-crashed period of 1-5mins depending on what's happening.

Battles still load fine... really hoping they can patch this as I doubt it's my PC causing the issues.

I'm still on 1.05, bit odd as I was on alpha - then after it moved to steam I seemed to get dropped from the beta group.

I've been trying to build a few others but some years and styles are still missing. Royal Sovereign class BB is tricky.

HMS Lion, front funnel is too high and the hull/bridge superstructure is not quite right but I got it all to fit.

HMS King George V is of course easy, but even here the funnels are uneven.
