Is there anywhere near Reading where I can go and buy a PSP? There are loads of internet sites but I am all over the place at the moment and cannot guarantee to be in at a certain place and time.

I also don't really trust parcelforce etc if they cannot deliver it to not do something stupid like leave it on the doorstep in the rain.

Sorry, had to search the site, I only know how to drive there!

www.dataplex.co.uk/ Are off junction 6 on the Bath Road. Did not get my PSP here, but have bought games before, they were most helpful, if not the cheapest.

Cheers Fer, might go and have a look. Quite expensive though compared to others but does include Ridge Racers as well.

lik-sang also do them, and pretty cheap.

I would post the link that earns me points when you shop, but I won't

http://lik-sang.com

You may need to go to lik-sang Europe (top right) to get the prices in GBP rather than HK $ though.

Happy hunting...

Also if you care about watching UMD movies get a Japanese unit over an American one.

We'll share Japans region coding for UMD films like we do DVDs.

Games on the PSP are however multiregion.

I'm assuming we are talking about getting one now (ie. before official launch)? If so, Nuplayer don't sell them anymore after Sony took them to court last week. They have changed their website to say that they are only taking orders for the offical PSP coming 1st Spetember. I'm assuming other sellers will run scared too.

I think the UMD format will have different regions than used in DVD, meaning we do not share territory with the Japanese units. All EU, I have been told, will be region 3.
However, we've only been told so we know where and how to plan our content distribution, but as we won't be producing UMDs, I'm not sure that's 100% accurate.

If you are worried about regioning though, then just get a big memory stick and rip the video to that.

www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000AXYMPQ/qid=1125394598/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i2_xgl/202-1887878-8464614

Amazon are quoting our UMD Movies as region 2 along with Japan, South Africa and the Middle East.

If I get a PSP when I go to Hong Kong will it be a "Japanese" model even though HK is not Japan. Or is there such a thing as a "Chinese" model?

There is no such thing as a chinese psp. Its only US, UK and Japan as far as i am aware. I read that Sony have moved production of the japanese units to hong kong to increase productivity.

Mine should be here monday morning from hong kong

If you get one in Hong Kong it will be Asian - the Japanese Unit. The "UK" unit is european and available throughout Europe. The American one is North American etc.
