I'm thinking I can sit on the sofa and play games with it rather than just poncing with the ipad whilst the Mrs watches whatever it is she watches.
I thought the starting price was pretty good but lets be honest, it will be the middle or top spec one with the docking station when it comes out.

Intriguing spec and I'm an big fan of the Steam Controller. Although it's not like I need more ways to spend time gaming...
Hope it's a success so a Steam Controller 2 can be spun off with the fancy new joysticks and quad back buttons. I wonder if they've paid off those back button patent trolls?

Technically really cool but I have to question how well PC gaming is going to work on a handheld given that the specs are pretty low for games (although it's a technical acheivement to get them into a handheld).
Also, seems to be based on Steam OS (Linux) with some sort of compatibility layer for regular Windows Steam games - lots of potential problems there.
No matter how good the latest x86 APUs are, they just aren't the best choice for a handheld console.

I’m going to place a preorder and see what the reviews are like. Also, seems to be based on Steam OS (Linux) with some sort of compatibility layer for regular Windows Steam games - lots of potential problems there.

There are already similar devices out there (though only the Steam one has the RDNA2 graphics):https://youtu.be/NhvrmNE5yng
Just seen this today, looks interesting.
What would you actually play on it?
All the pc games I like probably need a bigger screen and a keyboard and mouse, if it’s just an arcade type game then it would possibly be better on a big iPad screen or maybe a Nintendo switch?
Seems a pretty neat gadget though!

Looks interesting but the big question for me is will it actually be available? Seems getting hold of anything to do with gaming these days is a joke. The current gen PC graphics cards are knocking on twice list price. The XBox Series X and PS5 are out of stock everywhere. I would imagine that the unmet demand for those will spill over to this. Interesting as it is, i fear it might just end up another tradable commodity for bots and gougers

You cannot pre-order one unless you had a steam account before June 2021 so that takes care of the bots.Zoon said:
