GTR serial code problem

I borrowed a copy of gtr to try on my pc and then returned it to my friend.

I went out and bought a copy but now when i install the game it never asks me for the serial number?
and when i try to run the game it says wrong disc inserted.
i have uninstalled the game and the starforce drivers but no change.
Where in the registry or elsewhere on my pc may the serial number be stored?


please i gotta play it and dont want to format just for this :(

You still have the starforce protection drivers installed on the original copy. You need to uninstall it to re-install a different copy of GTR since that will have a different serial code.

Tried that, uninstalled the original copy and the starorce drivers and then installed my copy but it wont let me put a new serial code in at the install.

This may work from the FAQ on their website

(Make sure you backup the registry before using registry editor)

13. After reinstallation the game don't start anymore. Why?
After uninstalling the game, there are some entries in the registry still remaining, which are needed to delete manually. Do it this way. - Uninstall the game - Run RegEdit - Browse to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESBDT AB. - Right-click on GTR and select delete. - Install it new.
