I love an open-world adventure; GTA, Skyrim, Fallout and PUBG have all entertained me well.

Which is best our of Rust and DayZ?

I'm on an Xbox ONE if that makes a difference?

Yes, I think that's correct.
Sorry i deleted my comment.
What i wanted to ask, was if the online only aspect would be a factor, as i don't think you can play DayZ offline.
Whilst i've read that you can play on your own server with Rust (so no other players can join into your world).

I think I'd play the online version of either to be honest.

Based on those 4 games, I'd say Rust.

If you like crying into your controller with rage / sadness / confusion / hatred / fury / frustration and brief flashes of magic, DayZ.

DayZ is not a polished game, the interface is horrifically clunky, you are told nothing of how to survive, it is quite simply hard both as a result of the gameplay and as a result of how horrifically clunky it is (mouse and keyboard on the PC makes it look infinitely more playable).

It is however incredibly tense at times, playing with friends is great fun, but if you're all new to the game, you could easily spend a week trying to find each other, obviously dieing numerous times and thus spawning somewhere else hehe

Trying to describe the Russian characters on road signs to each other is entertaining enough hehe

You can easily do the same on DayZ.

I have my own DayZ 10 slot servers. It’s really easy to weed out the trash, plus the two maps are so huge that you rarely ever come across any other players anyway.

Having played DayZ on PS4 I'd say no, not if you want to be any good at it. There are so many actions you need to carry out in order to do most things and with just a controller it makes an already clunky interface quite infuriating and slow to use.

It's a PC game that you can play on consoles but it really doesn't work. If they'd simplified things, made it slightly easier to survive and had console only servers i think it could have worked but as it is...nah!

I don't know about Rust but have played a lot of DayZ.
It is a good game however, it can also be very......very frustrating. Taking time to get yourself to having a decent level of gear and then getting killed 'on sight' can drive you up the wall. In addition to learning 'how to survive', knowledge of the map can make a huge difference. If you know how to get back to where you were killed relatively quickly, it does 'soften the blow'. I hired a small server when I started playing it just so I could learn the map and where items spawned etc
Check out RunningManz on Youtube. He plays DayZ almost exclusively and is damn good at it

I love the look of DayZ, but I can hardly hold my own on PUBG console-only games, so I am going to be utter st at it... hehe

It really is a good game but the learning curve is steep.
Even the 'survival' aspect is difficult. Been shot? if you don't bandage quickly enough, you'll bleed out and die. Boots wear through? If you don't find another, you'll bleed out and die. There's so many things to know and so many things that will result in you dying. Hear that wolf howl? Run like a MF smile
(I remember the first time my under-geared character experienced that. Wasn't pretty or fun smile)

You can find role play servers which enable you to concentrate on that aspect and not worry (so much) about being shot on sight but I think even they can be unreliable

Loved playing dayz on Xbox, it is really clunky but a great game if you get a good server.

I played a server where it was me against a full team of 12 and ran a full guerilla warfare campaign against them. They then changed rules to have a safe zone that they built there base on which kind of killed the server and eventually left when an admin combat logged on me

I'm addicted. Such a vast world of possibilities. And so irritating when things go tits up, as they often do.

I really struggled with DayZ on Xbox, I had to give up in the end.

I'm currently playing 7 days to die which is quite fun and challenging, plus it offers the options to turn the zombies off for a bit if you find you're struggling. The long dark is also a decent game but again, very tricky at times.

Not wishing to start a thread for my simple question, but can anyone tell me what the game is that is similar to DayZ and Rust, but you start by parachuting in from a plane? I cannot remember it for the life of me - seem to recall it was about 3 or 4 words and was mostly known by its abbreviation. I remember that the map border closed in as the game progressed, so evidently had a time limit to the matches, unlike DayZ and Rust.

DayZ Frostline expansion release date announced - 15th October, £27.

Should be good for console, not sure it adds much over Namalsk etc on PC.
