Getting organised in LFS
Discussion
The server appears to have seen good use over the weekend but I doubt it was all ph-ers. I suggest we lock the server down with a password to help maximise enjoyment.
I'd also like to check on how people are finding the other settings. Currently it only allows 10 drivers which has been enough so far and hasn't caused too much lag (that I have witnessed). I could up the number of connections but while it is working just fine it seems a bit pointless.
Are there any other changes people would like?

I'd change the name to Pistonheads
I'd also cut down on the number of available cars, just limiting it to a couple that are of similar speed.
Is there a way to setup the server, so that everyday it changes to a new random track or a new car selection? Or do all changes have to be set manually?

I can change the defaults but I need to know which tracks people want and the same for cars.
Should I just specify a given configuration for a given day. IE we decide in advance what we want and I just load up the relevant configuration on the server?
Cars have some useful groupings:
ALL - all cars
ROAD - road legal cars
RACE - race cars
TBO - same as XRT+RB4+FXO
LRF - same as LX6+RAC+FZ5
GTR - same as FXR+XRR+FZR
or we can specify the exact models

Think if you're keeping it as a Pistonheads only room then the setup we used on friday worked fine, deciding on a car by common vote or similar and someone in the room has the ability to change the track, only went to pot when we had unknown gimps in the room who insisted on driving totally different cars or by using the racing versions of the same car in a vain attempt to win.

I've set the hostname as pistonheads
Password is speedmatters
Just for a test I have disabled all of the race cars but left the MRT5 in place as that was just too much fun
Cool, I'll be along this evening (although I gather that most will be playing GTR).
Hopefully, the pings will be low, I checked TheLair at lunchtime and they were up to about 130ms (but that's probably due to network traffic in my buildin and nothing to do with the server)
This is why I said we need to get a bit organised so that everyone turns up at the same time.
GTR is soaking up a lot of attention, I noticed. Seems every day of the week has one race or another running so I think the best thing to do is just pick a date and time.
It would be very useful to declare the circuit and car before we start. I can at least limit the car selection in advance that way. The mechanism for limiting the track seems to be bugged so unfortunately we are stuck with the system as is.

Myself and Steve-o made use of the server last night and basically set it to practise laps (nobody else around so no point racing full on). Plus I was using mouse/keyboard control, so little bit twitchy in the faster cars.
Much fun was had although eventually it degenerated into more "Burnout:Point of Impact" than "Live for Speed"
