Just looked at Steve's post about the megadrive emulator and looked around that site.

Has anybody looked at the kxploit that's not long been around. Supposed to allow us developers to run non-encrypted executables off the memory stick with 1.5 firmware.

I'm at work, and with the crap M$ Windowz I have to work with, I can't see the contents of the rar file that is the distribution, and I can't read Italian, so I have no idea what the site it comes from is saying:
http://psp-dev.1emulation.com/content/view/95/2/

Anybody got any ideas?

Edit:

Answered own question(ish) after a google:
http://psp-dev.1emulation.com/content/view/91/2/
(same damn site!!!)

Looks like I may be able to port some stuff after all - ye-har!

We'll you've already answered your question, but this seems like a good topic to mention...

Today, I found out that someone's been able to hack the PSP to play pirated software from the memory stick. I'm not going to post any links, but as a developer (working on a PSP game) this isn't the best news. I was happy with the emulators to play all my old Megadrive/NES/SNES games, but I hope Sony nip this in the bud.

BTW jitsukadave, I used to have a 2001 Ginetta G4, brilliant little car

I have just played around with it at work and got the shareware levels of Doom running, anda couple of other things. All very eay to use, but in spanish, even though all the user guide screen shots are in english

This proves the concept, so now I'm off to finish up a very crude 3D Dizzy level I started a couple of days ago, and next week I will try to port it to the PSP.

Stig: Browsers are now availabe, but not sure where from or how good, I ended up here - and it looks ok, but the crowd on the forums are of varying quality... www.pspupdates.com/</a>
[Edit...] Just had a look there, looks like there is an MSN on the PSP, but no mention of a web browser

Harvey: Agree that the piracy is bad news. Now I earn enough to pay I find I am very happy to do so. I still hunt around for the cheapest purchase I can get off the net, but I want to make sure people get paid for putting all the effort in.
Lucky bugger with the G4, I just couldn't keep one - nowhere for it to keep dry any more

Stig, I have found a web server for the PSP, but not a browser yet. The one reported in Wipe Out seems to be the app of choice though, and I think it has been ripped out. However, this is obviously bad form, so there seems to be a few people looking to port a linux one complied for the PS2.
This just involves re-building mozilla, and I think is pretty easy (not had a chance to get back to linux from last week yet )

Just finished the shareware version of Doom - the screen needs to be a little bigger, but I think it was made that size to help the PSP run at full pelt. Doom2 and Quake III Arena are now/soon-to-be available, with WiFi LAN play

The piracy issue is out now, and I think it will sperad pretty quick. At least all new PSP units will not allow this to work, just all the ones out there now, and not updated with the new firmware.
