Its wicked isn't it? Can't wait for the game now I hope that as people play it more they will start using the commander/squad system a bit more. I've had a few squads going and its really fun

Haven't played it too much but what I have seen is GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

Looking forward to the career progression stuff - not sure about the VOIP stuff, don't really wan't to go down the road of sitting on my own shouting into a microphone whilst playing games...

Downloaded it last night. Looks pretty decent - had a quick go this morning mowing down my own men
I was a bit addicted to the desert combat mod on bf1942 so I'm a bit concerned that I'm never gonna make it out of the house once the full game gets released! I'm normally called Dogflaps or MagicCatDeathRay so if you see me online, give us a shout

Go to www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html for details on how to up the amount of bots on the map, get the extra weapons and disable the time limit. All work very well.

fun game to just around in, but hardly a step forward from the previous games gameplay wise. Graphics are nice, but mean nothing to me.

and its still being played on a crappy EA engine iirc. Thus, this game will never shine.

If graphics mean nothing to you why does it matter who made the engine for it?

you should read some reviews..pc zone...gamespot etc

plus the demo is unfinished code.

Last night I played as part of a team on a 64/64 non-public server. We had four squads of 5/6 people, each talking inter-squad with headsets and moving onto / holding bases or repairing the artillery. Meanwhile there were support squads (in the Black Hawks) and air cover. The commander holds it all together and gives the squad leader the objectives.

None of this existed in BF:V etc. Which is exactly why I stopped playing it after 2 weeks - no real tactics, just "run around till you get shot"
I think this will last me a lot longer.

Clever idea from EA to release a playable demo like this - I would have just ignored it otherwise, assuming it to be a clone of BF:1942. But now I'm sold, before it's even out!

Yep, clever marketing indeed - exactly as they did with the original BF - released a demo to get lots of support behind the game before it was available.

on top of that ...what changes in gameplay would you want...?
i mean its a battlefield. they are hardly going turn it into pro evo soccer.

Actually, I'm not going to bother with BF2 because there aren't enough sports in it.

Having played the demo a fair bit, I've got to say its a marked improvement over the last few versions. The commander and squads definitely enforce a new team element that simply wasn't really there except by accident in the previous games. I really like the new ragdoll effects too. Especially when you get blown miles off a hill by artillery and land the other side of a lake

DMike - engine is more than graphics, Physics too.

Peter - why would i read reviews? Id rather review a game myself than have somebody tell me what to think of it. and as for changes....ummm, more skill needed? Gun phsyics way too easy to handle.

John p - squad stuff can be fun but you actually need people who can cooperate and work as a team, and if ur playing pubicly, it will be hard to find.

as I said before, fun game to around in but terrible for any sort of competitive gaming.

This is using a new engine with new physics as well as new graphics.

Did find one irritation, being knifed by an enemy soldier, being revived by a nearby medic then being knifed again by the same enemy lurking around before I can do anything. Happened 3 times before he was taken out by the medic who was fighting with him all the time I was down.

In the demo playing as a sniper I tended to go to high ground (roof tops) or behind walls to take out the enemy but found a great spot at the top of the crane.
