Noob drivers on GTR
Discussion
Got my copy of this fantastic game at the weekend and went online with it for the first time last night.
First impressions are that it is a very good game, graphics are good, car handling is very good too (must be realistic because some cars are gits to handle, must need more practice).
What did make me gasp was the quality of some of the drivers on the servers. I am only a complete novice but I was doing my best to keep the car on the track and avoid crashing into others. But some people....
I was on one server, I think it was a French one, and out of 30 odd cars, over 20 had piled up after the first lap. Practice and qualifying was utter chaos with cars strewn everywhere!!!
I have one question, is it a similar situation on the PH GTR nights or are people more considerate? Obviously people will be novices (like myself) and need practice, but..... carnage is a suitable word!!
Also, what is the general concensus of newbies to the game on the servers when PH'ers are on?? Does PH GTR utilise an 'L' plate system?

I'll put it simply from my perspective. I have never and will never race on one of the open public servers Too many wreckers and idiots and people who just like to smash everything up.
On our races we actually use our mirrors and try not to hit others (accidents do happen though) and we have very close racing. Most times when we are doing a short fun race if one person disappears away at the front they will slow up to let other catch up if there has been a hold up, we like to race each other you see

Very good news indeed FWD.
I shall keep tabs on the forum then for when some more races are being held by you and other PH'ers.
I am a complete novice at the game and do crash a bit, but i'll get better with practice. Saying that I do use my mirrors and I don't get in people's way and cause stupid accidents. I suppose i'm a bit like a Minardi in the F1 field at the mo.
Looking forward to participating in some decent racing online for a change.
The public servers can be awful, I've had people hide at the end of the pit wall and then pull out broadside onto the track to ram you
PH races are much better. We use mirrors, we let lappers past, and to be honest if someone catches me quickly I just let them past knowing they will shag their tyres and I'll get em when they're in the pits

Tell me about it!!
Last night I did a quick race (only had about 45 mins at 6 o'clock ) and it was a total shambles.
I did a qualifying session before the race which was mad because people were flying everywhere on the track. Ended up about 15th out of 28 on the grid. As soon as the parade lap was skipped and the green light came on there were about 10 cars all strewn across the track. Some idiot crashed into the back of me and it was blown tyre and race over for me, all within 1 minute of the start of a 21 lap race!!!!
Needless to say about 12 people left the race straight away complaining of the idiocy.
I want to do a decent race for once!!!

Thta's the second time I've heard reference to v1.4. I assume this is available as a patch to the original game? Where can I get it and how easy is it to install? I'm still distinctly amateur but wouldn't mind getting involved with the fun soon.
When you load the game, click on simulation (or semi-pro etc). When you get the menu that gives you the option of multiplayer etc just click on 'whats new' at the top of the screen, then click download (or something like that), the files download, then click install and the game should update itself. Obviously you will need your internet connection running in the background.
I have only had the game for 2 days so i'm a complete novice too!!
