Can anyone one tell me how much experience your B-Spec driver in GT4 needs before he goes from 'moronically stupid' to 'starting to show signs of maybe having a glimmer of intelligence'?

I've been using him for a quite a while now and his experience has built up quite a lot, but he is still making the same stupid mistakes over and over again.

Will he ever learn????

You only have to look at the AI of the other cars, I don't reckon he'll get much better. All the other cars scream off the line and then bounce off each other, their idea of overtaking is bounce off the back of the car in front four times, then go past. My B-Spec man is a numpty, and I hate him. I think I might send him round the 'ring in that used Volvo gathering dust in the garage, 24 hours worth of Scando hooning should teach the git a lesson.

Doesn't stop me playing until my eyes bleed though.

I have to admit it's damm irritating. To start with he was quite good, I could trust him to overtake quite cleanly, very rarely got off line, didn't spin. But he seems to be getting worse, now rams people up the back side rather than slipping down the inside for a simple pass. If I take over I am in the lead within 2 corners, while he is still faffing around with 5 place after 2 laps........daft..

I'm glad it's not just me!

It's got to the point where there are a few championship races left that I want to do, but I don't have time to drive them myself. So I give it to the B-Spec numpty, looking to use 3X speed. He just can't win! Even if his car has 200 BHP more than anything else on the track! It's soo frustrating

ROFL

It's that wonderful hesitation of his - faffs around in a corner, overbrakes himself on the exit, and blows all the momentum he had on the following straight such that he can't get past.

He is, as you say, rather useless but granted, my NumptieDriver(tm) is quite low in the points at the moment.

My driver seems to have it pretty much sussed. The *only* race it still messes up is the old Le Mans circuit (no chicanes) on endurance.

Spins the car nearly every lap toward the end of the Mulsane (then again I have trouble too sometimes)

mine did okay.

He won all the endurance races, and most of the extreme hall races...

They get better with experience - I think mine has over 7000 points now, and although he's still slower (significantly so at certain tracs - Le Mans for example, he was nearly 30 seconds off my pace!) and does some stupid things, I can trust him to win if I qualify for him, and will be sharing some of the longer endurance races with him rather than just pausing them.

I've found Mr b-spec to be a fine driver in a well sorted nice handling car (eg: 350z race car) but I have a 95 Impreza that is a pig to drive, I can win with it easy but b-spec AI can't cope and throws it off most corners.

My B spec driver is completey useless too! it was okay upto about 4000 skill level, but then as it has got closer to 5000 it has been completely useless! i simply dont trust it anymore with winning races, as it will probably put it off on the first corner.

Heres mine. Maureen can't figure out how to brake into a hairpin on cold tyres, can't overtake on a straight, and thinks the Nurburgring is a foreign doughnut.

The Sauber Mercedes.
Hard and super hard tyres - I ran the first 8 laps to get the lead, then let him take over..

Bump!

B-Spec driver now has experience around the 6500 mark...and I think I may possibly see the glimmer of an improvement.....

Have heard rumours that after he gains around 7000 experience he starts to actually become a pretty good driver. Can anyone confirm??

Mine has a little over 7000 and he is pretty reliable, but he has been Ok for a while.

Added: reliable for certain things...EG winning cars and money for you while you sleep.
I put my co-driver in a vehicle that will outclass the rest of them and send him on on an endurance race and he ussually wins. If i put him in an equal vehicle he would probably lose.

I will go try it now and report back.

Excellent, we have given a fellow PH'er an excuse to play more GT4!

Ok, my B-spec guy has 8200 points. Last night I purchased a bog standard Cooper S and entered him into the first race of the Mini Challenge in the manufacturers bit.

Here are the results, he started in 6th place for every race.

Standard car: 3rd place everytime
lightened car: 2nd place everytime
Lightened car with racing tyres: First place within about a third of a lap and a win everytime.

He was set to 'overtake' on speed setting '3'.

In my case, no.

Set him off (admittedly cheating with the F1) for the Le Mans Sarthe I 24Hrs race - came back this morning and he had obviously been trying to get into the pits all night.

The donkey had only missed the wall, got stuck and was repeatedly ramming the wall trying to turn round...

For a start - the F1 car isnt very good at LEMans II - due to the tyres and low top speed..

But once your driver is past 8k, he is much better...

A nice tip - if you want to bump up his experience (and skill)... take the unusual cars (like the Step Van) and put him on a circuit sponser race (free to enter) - put difficulty down..

Do this with a lot of unusual cars on different circuits, and you will see his numbers rise - and he will be much better..
