It's good... really good..

It feels different to GT4, but it still feels good..

Traction control, stability management and ABS are all far more usable than the driver aids in GT4. The aids in FM actualy allow you to play with the car rather than just killing all "enthusiastic" driving..

I've only played the game for a couple of hours so far, but I can confirm that the N'Ring is mapped very well, and the Le-Mans style prototype cars handle very very well indeed!

I shall report back when I've had some more playing time..

Tell me more - I for one can't wait for it - I'm bored with PGR2 and want a slightly more track based game.

Are you playing the final version or a demo? I have read that the demo is a tad uninspiring.

I presume you're using standard controller as there don't appear to be any good wheels on the market for the X-box?

Screenshots would be good too if you have any way of grabbing them...

Cheers

Just 11 more days... It was about time a game like this came out for xbox. Toca 2 (called DTM 2 in Belgium) was good, but no more and one can only restart PGR2 so many times.

I haven't got time to post much at the moment, but it's very very good, high lights:

-7 AI to race against
-AI is very aggressive
-handling is very good, although I think the cars can broadside too easily
-cars smash and fall apart
-online play
-plenty of Ferraris
-All the tracks are superb apart from New York and Tokyo
-once you get past the initial easy races, the medium and hard ones have plenty of entry restrictions. This means you can't 'do a gran turismo' and win by having a better car, you actually have to drive better. <- I really hate this in the GT games
-by making the game harder by switching the aids off, damage on and AI aggressive, you are rewarded twice as much money for winning.

the ONLY critisims I have are (they're all very minor):

-The 'buzz' noise at the race start is awful
-Your car's engine sound seems to be quieter than the rest of the field
-Changing a car setup before a race means having to go back through about 6 or 7 menus, then you have to restep through the 6 or 7 menus to return to the game.
-I have to play from the outside view as the track seems to blurry from incar and I can't see what's coming.
-some tracks have no braking markers or anything close to the track to judge the distance to the next corner.

I'm not usually a fan of Xbox games, but this has me hooked!

Oh and another thing, I played the demo 6 months ago and laughed at how poor it was. Ever since then I've been expecting this game to be terrible, but the team have really turned the whole thing around in the last half year. Well done guys!

I played the demo too and wasn't too exited then, but apparently it has improved much since then. Actually ordered my copy two days ago.

I would echo everything said above. The handling of the cars is absolutely first rate. The differences in the cars are modelled to perfection, whether it is an Integra Type R tightening it's line with a mid-corner lift or the sensitive, twitchy feel of an MR2 Turbo through a series of fast sweepers (don't lift off in that one!)

The early progress is rapid and the reward cars are very good (A free Honda NSX came my way very early and a very cheeky Mugen S2000 later on) and after about 4 hours of play I have 5 cars and about 95k. It is definately worth turning off the driver aids straight away as not only do you get much more cash for victories but you get a lot more out of the game (I guess I'm preaching to the converted here!)

The AI does seem overly agressive and seems to have an advantage when it comes to punting you out of the way, it seems easier for the AI to spin you than the other way round, however this encourages you to sit back and watch for a while to get an idea where they are slower before overtaking. The engine sound is very slightly poorer than Project Gotham II but this is just nitpicking.

edit to say: The selection of cars is very well judged. There isn't the range of GT4 but you don't have a million different versions of the same car either.

All in all it is the racing game the Xbox has been waiting for, 2 thumbs up

I have just started playing this and have trained my co-driver so that he can do the easy races.

He has about 66 skill points but on one track he just stops in the middle of the circuit for a few seconds!

It is like there is an invisible accident in front of him or something...he jumps on the brakes and who ever is behind him drives up his bum.

Very wierd as it only happens in one place on one track, and it is not approaching a slow bend or anything.

yeah, there are some incredible ones there. Takes a few hours to do one car however. But: Respect!
