I am looking at buying 2 PSP for myself and mother who wants one to repalce her Gameboy SP.

I can get one at my local game shop but they want £250 each so I was thinking of going onto he net and buying them myself.
Byt I have a few questions i hope someone can answer for me

1) do the leads and PSP work on uk mains? 240V.
IE when recharging and so on?

2) where is the best place to buy them from?

cheers

Mine has a japanese plug, with an adaptor, and is happy with 240v. You can swap it for any "figure of eight" plug, I am just to lazy/tight!

(They are great, btw!)

Buy one from NuPlayer in Windsor. A lot less than £250!

Or from www.liksang.com/ for £135.

Remember that you will have to pay VAT, customs charges and courier handling fees on top of this.

I had to pay an extra £55 on delivery - which was noted on the Liksang page.

At least with NuPlayer they do the importing and then add the VAT for you so you can work out exactly how much you are paying - i.e £199 inc VAT!

I got mine from electricbirdland.co.uk for £250 including game, leads, value pack, UK Adapter, Firmware, etc..

Took 2 weeks for them to deliver from Up North but I suppose thats because of demand. I've seen better deals on Ebay but thats up to whether or not you trust ebay.

No problems at all with UK compliance, the Jap ones will play UK UMD Movies and the Games are universal.

Not tried any UMD movies, but I had heard there might be some regional issues on that. Thanks for the info.

The value pack is worth getting, if only for the remote and the memory card.

www.movietyme.com now have the games in for next day delivery. Have had one from them that came from the US, but did not get hassled for any import.

Some of the japanese imports have an early version of the firm ware. The US ones are v1.5 now, but it is fairly easy to update the earlier versions, just download the file to the momery stick and plug it into the mains.

UMD - Universal Media Disc
Basically UMD Movies are like mini DVD's. They only hold 1.6 Gig but because of the size of the screen and the limitations of the PSP the movies are of really good quality. They are coming in at around £15 each though so probably easier and cheaper to buy a normal DVD and "back it up" on your PC and Rip a copy to your Memory stick (It'll have to be a 512Mb or 1Gb one though!)

A Jap import will play UK games and movies (Japan is Region 2, same as UK).

US machines will play UK games, but not UK movies (as US is Region 1).

Or if you connect to a WLAN, the PSP will download them automatically! Mine did at home

If you like RPG's then Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade is huge.

Twisted Metal Head On - is good if you like a cross between Quake and Destruction Derby's.

Wipeout Pure for pure fast-paced racing.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour for golf fans.

-----------------

Amazon have some good prices on memory sticks, depends on what size you want?
