The background colour depends on the date. Each month it is a different colour. If you are desparate to chance it, you will have to update the date.

January = Grey
February = Dull-Yellow
March = Lime-Green
April = Pink
May = Dark-Green
June = Light-Purple
July = Tealish-Blue
August = Blue
September = Purple
October = Gold
November = Brown
December = Red

You can by selecting the picture from your images and choosing 'set as background'. However it only lasts as long as the PSP is switched on, and reverts to default on restart.

He means that he is sure that someone will come along with a cracked firmware update to remove Sony's limitations and/or add other features (such as persistent custom backgrounds and UMD movire region free).

there was a leak of some firmware update a while ago, that had suggestions of the wordpad/spreadsheet/calendar functionality in it... apparently could screw up your PSP, but sony offered to replace any PSP's compromised by the update, as it was a sony leak...

hence the possibility of firmware updates.. there are already some around, that you download to your PC, copy to a memory stick, and bung in your PSP.. can't remember what the current ones do, but a couple of the guys at work have done it..

if it's on your PC, some clever buggers will fiddle with it to everyone's delight!

Ok, I need help now. That infernal GP3 software that changes files straight to the PSP keeps giving me error reports when I try to convert an AVI file. That includes all the Brunters Runs!

I have downloaded about 30 Simpsons episodes and have managed to compress the 60-70gb files to 5-7mb. So I can fit a ton of episodes on the 1gb stick.

What program can I use to convert the AVI files? I tried VLC software from VLAN but didn't know how to do it. Any suggestions?

I use Quicktime, Cleaner, ffmpeg on the Mac - Quicktime is the easiest, if you have the right codec installed!

On the former, there's a torrent site on the web. Do a Google for simpsons torrent and you're likely to find it.

On the latter, I have no idea! I managed about 55Mb.

Animation can be compressed a bit more than normal video with lower bit rates, but to get a 10th of the size, I'd expect bit rates of less than 50, which I would have thought would look cack.

Having said that, when I first started trying to convert stuff before Christmas, I had a few trials where a small AVI file would balloon in size when done for the PSP. Never did figure it out...works reliably now though.

I have no idea. I just put the file in the 3GP converter and it came out tiny. Unlike the Paris Hilton Video

Quality is not perfect but is is very decent.

I got the Simpsons episodes from Limewire.

What about making a PSP multi region so it can read all UMD movie disks.... Is this possible ?

Don't think so yet, but can't imagine why anyone would want to buy UMD movie discs...
