In my infinite laziness and quest for credits, I'm wondering whether in B-Spec mode it's possible to set a driver to do an entire championship without intervention, or whether you need to set him going for each race?

You can always set the race off in B-Spec - then speed the race up (R1, then L1+right D-pad x2) likewise for the remaining races, shouldn't take too long to romp through..

if your after making a lot of money via b-spec - just set him off on the endurance races - you'll make six figures and get a nice car...

Don't even need to do that. Get a skyline with 4wd. Tune it up nicely and enter the Japan Championship in japanese events. Series of 5 Short races, so you'll need to keep an eye on him. But you get 7,500 for each win, 35,000 for winning the whole thing and a Nissan 350 Z Race Car Concept '02 as the prize car. Which is worth 318,000. Thats a grand total of just over 390,000. All this'll take you about 40 mins.

I can B-Spec the German Touring Car Championship in just under 20 minutes. You get 15,000 for winning each race (5 races, though you only have to do four to win), 75,000 for winning the championship, and a Merc CLK-GTR, which is worth 763,000. Not bad for 18-19 minutes work. You can make a couple of million in an hour or so

It's the mode where you act as "manager" and the computer drives for you. You can set the computer to overtake, push hard, and so on.

The menu before you start a race has two options, A Spec and B Spec.

I can't get it to work. I can destroy the DTM on my own but my b-spec driver can only finish 3rd in each race.

Irritating, isn't it! I'm trying to get my B-Spec driver trained at the moment, and found the same thing happening.

Did discover that you can earn B-Spec points on the Free Runs at the circuits though. I left my guy lapping the 'Ring at 3x while I went shopping and had a good few more points after he'd done an hour or so.

He can now be relied on (just!) to win the DTM on his own with slightly over 5000 B-Spec points.

Heres the thing about B-spec...

He learns as he goes along... the more points he has, the more likely he is to win. (Over 5000 in a car he should win if he has a better car).

But unless he has to fight to win races, and loses some, you'll notice the lower figures (like battle skill) are really low.. 100 is a good figure to get to, and would mean he could win with an equal car from the back of the grid..

It bugs me when the b-spec is trundling round Le Mans - then for no reason at all, decides to drive down the crash barriers on the Mulsanne straight for a mile or so !! nothing else on the road at the time, he wasn't even set to increased or push hard, just plodding along at medium...My B-Spec has about 6,500 points and he still screws it up..

I've had this as well. B'spec driver was running in normal speed leading, then all of a sudden crashes into the wall.

Up'ed the speed to increased speed and have not had it happen again.

A good way to win and increase your battle skill points is on the longer races. Stay out for 1 lap longer than the AI cars on each pit stop which will cut down the number of pit stops you do giving you at least 30secs per pit stop in hand. You should also alternate between a clear track and fighting your way through the back markers after your pit stop without slowing you down.

One extra lap should only add a few seconds onto the last laptime before the pitstop, but this is easily made back up and more when you have a clear track.

Don't try this on the ring or l'sarth - stay out for 1 lap longer on the first pit stop only and then pit at the same interval as the AI cars but 1 lap later. You then have a clear track in front of you and you will end up lapping much faster with out having to push too hard. You should eventually end up pitting on the same lap as the AI cars but you will have 1 lap lead.

You need a DTM car to enter. Most of the German manufacturers sell a DTM car. The Astra is pretty cheap and I was able to win the championship (on A-Spec mode) without altering the car at all. It was disappointingly easy!
