Anyone know my brother's chances of getting a replacement disc for this game? I brought it for him for Christmas and there's one misson that causes his PS2 to crash, thus meaning he can't continue with the game There's a few scratches on the disc and we've tried cleaning it but to no avail.

How old is the PS2? It started fluffing up bit time on my old MK1 PS2. I bought another copy of San Andreas becuase i thought it was the scratches on the disk, turns out it was the DVD lens going t*ts-up!

Well his PS2 is about 4 years old now, so getting on a bit. We opened it up and there was no obvious problems inside. Tried another game and that worked fine. It just seems to be certain places in San Andreas cause it to crash (flying the Lear Jet for instance).

Although, he's now managed to do that mission without it crashing, so perhaps his PS2 is on the way out

Cheers for that, I'll give it a go when I get home as his model is exactly the same as my brothers (SCPH-30001)

If that doesn't work then get in touch with the publisher - most will replace scratched discs for a nominal fee if you return them.

Had a poke around last night and it seems to be a bit better. Only crashed once. It's a real pain to trouble shoot, as it's so intermittent. You can play it for 5 minutes and it will crash or sometimes it takes a couple of hours before it'll crash.

It costs £15 to get it replaced from the publisher as someone i work with had a scratched gta san andreas disc, and this what it cost him.
