Sony has been told to pay $90.7m (£48m) in damages and stop selling PlayStation consoles in the United States after losing a patent infringement lawsuit.

So why does this "technology" of making the handsets vibrate also affect Microsofts Xbox?

It must be more specific than just vibration - since this patent would then cover mobile phones and pagers in which case there would be prior art present and they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Or if it does effect the XBox as well, then the company clearly is going after the biggest prize first. Assuming it stands up, Microsoft could be next, then Nintendo, and so on.

Perhaps Microshite actually licenced the technology (rather than do the usual) this time?

From what i've read on other forums, MS licenced the technology, Nintendo do it a different way and Sony will appeal therefore can still sell PS2s, DS controllers and the games so in the short term it will make no difference. It also only effects US (maybe Canada too?).

Also the patent seems very loose so I wouldn't be supprised if this ends out of court!
