Computer games are a bit too 'big' these days?

I was talking to a colleague of mine (he runs the games section at the HMV store where I work) and he was raving on about some game, saying that it's great because you can do pretty much anything and go pretty much anywhere...

Am I the only one who requires just a little more direction than that to enjoy a game?

Similaraly, after having reached the 'Badlands' on GTA: San Andreas, I've spent so much time driving around the huge map that it's gotten really boring... And I've still not unlocked about 60% of the game!

GT4 is the same. It's a great game but I think I'll end up sticking to the arcade mode.

I agree to an extent but with GT4 I'm now just going through all the different levels. I've got to the stage when I've got enough cash and most of the licenses so I can enter any marques race by buying a car, modding it and racing.

I like that degree of variation in the game. If it was just a few tracks and cars I think I'd get bored quicker.

San Andreas I agree though. I've got bored of that simply because its toooo damn big.
