I was playing GT4 last night when there was an almighty crash in the back lane (where both my cars were parked). I stood up to look out of the window and the controller cable was wrapped around my foot. I pulled the console off the hi-fi stand and it fell to the floor.

Started GT4 again and it lets me race ok, but when the race finishes and it tried to exit the console hangs. Looking a the disc there are some nasty scratches on it where the lens has clattered off the disc.

I'm hoping it's just the disc that's damaged and not the lens

No GT4 for me.

PS2s seem pretty robust. I did the exact same thing and mine took a tumble from the top of a floostanding speaker - about 4feet - onto wooden floor. No problems as a result of that!

edit to add - most video rental shops offer a "resurfacing" service where they'll clean up your DVDs or CDs for a few quid - four for a tenner at my local shop.
