GT4 Sounda faults?
Discussion
Ive been having a couple of problems with a couple of cars in the game - the RUF CTR, BTR, and the RGT. whenever you're in the "in car" view or the "roof/bonnet" view there is no engine sound, just road-noise, and wind noise. when you go to the car rear view, you get full sound. Ive asked a few mates, and they say they dont have this problem. is anyone else suffering with this?
thanks in advance,
Oliver

The sound inside all the cars is rubbish. It sounds much better out the back.
This is very true, but its a real pain when you are concentrating on the circuit and you cant tell what the engine is doing. its worse than trying to lip read a tv show with the tv on mute.
p.s. have called sony and they said it sounds like a weird fault, so i should try my game in another PS2 to see if its a fault with my PS2 or the game. its not like its a major problem, just annoying. the strange this is, its only the fully rear engined RUF's that have the problem, the 3400S doesnt have the problem at all.

BTR & yellow bird sound fine on mine. In fact the BTR on the downshift is one of the best sounding cars in the game. "cracking" in fact.
I'm thinking its a software fault with certain batches of the game as I'm pretty sure my mates are ok too (and we all bought our copies from the same shop)

The mono thing definitely does the trick, but its a pain to have to keep swapping the sound mode just for 3 cars! so i will probably avoid buying/using those cars.
As for a software issue, i tried it in the local game shops display machine and it worked perfectly, and that was set in stereo mode as well. their PS2 is one of the extremely early systems.
I have tried a lens cleaner and thats done nothing at all. it seems to me that its a combination of dodgey software and hardware.
I did talk to the manager at the game shop, and she said that there have been a lot of issues with the game not working on the very early machines, which from the sounds of it basically means replacing the PS2, or sending it to Sony for the "fix".
