Are there any flight sim enthusiasts on here?
I used to play a few years back - F16 Fighting Falcon, AV8B Harrier, MS Flight Sim as well as an online simulator on AOL or something from what I remember.
Anyone got any recommendations for any of the current crop? Preferably with some sort of online gaming available.
How about joysticks - any good ones out there? Thinking stick, throttle and pedals if there's anything like that out there.

Of the current bunch I would recomend the Il2 Sturmovik group of games, especially Pacific Fighters and the Ace Expansion pack. In fact you need to buy the following:-
Il2 Forgotton Battles
Il2 Ace Expansion Pack
Pacific Fighters
All 3 of these can install in the same group and leave one big game with a huge amount of planes to fly.
Graphic's wise its the best out there at the moment (put it on Perfect mode and check out the water effects) and the physics/flight/damage models are easily better than everything else. (Big online community too)
Obviously FS9 (Or Flight Sim 2004) as most call it is pretty good, but I often get bored, and it doesnt matter if the whole world is programmed in the game if at the end of the day the graphics suck eggs.
Flight stick;
Look into the Siatek brand of flight sticks. For a general Joystick I would go for the Rumble Force 3D. Great all rounder with very subtle feedback motors.
If you want a full HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) system then Siatek again.
They do 2 different stick & Throttle set ups at the moment. The X45 and the X52. Both very similar but the X52 has a 2inch LCD screen on the throttle base for programing info.
Have a look around for the X45 though as it is now "end of line" and there are silly bargins to be had. I managed to pick mine up for £10 from PC world.... If there was more than 1 I would have bought a few at that price.
Recomend this set up highly
Ps. Steer clear of "Lock on" by the makers of Il2. Its cr*p
