Just ordered Gran Turismo 4 from Amazon and I really do think that to do it justice I need to invest in a steering wheel and pedal set-up (sad I know).
Could anyone help me as to where to get the best one available?

Have the Lotus f/f wheel(yes, very sad I know).Has nice design & weighting tho I find it a bit over-sensitive took a while to get used to.Pedals are good, very progressive response.Force-feed back response is quite good.

the new logitech force feedback pro has been designed specifically for GT4.

900 degree lock-to-lock, little gear stick.

I've seen it for about £80-90 online. Try froogling for it.

Cheers Raify, that looks like the one!

Although a colleague at work has said that his nephew has got one with a a seat for which he paid less than £100 for. I can't find it anywhere though

If not then the 'GT4' looks like it could be the one to go for.

There are a few on EBAY at the moment all going for reasonable prices.

I remember one with a seat going for around £100.00

Might be worth a look.

I looked on ebay. seems they are force wheels, and not the new "pro" version.

I've found one, watching it at the moment in My Ebay.

not telling you where it is though, it's a good price and I might want it myself.

Only kidding, here it is: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8174521173&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

i was in the exact same position as you, but couldnt really justify spending so much on a steering wheel. so off i went bidding on numerous 360 modena thrustmaster wheels. then kept getting outbid to stupid prices. so in the end plumped for a logitech driving force wheel brand new from amazon for 50 quid delivered. couldnt find it anywhere cheaper new. its a fantastic wheel and would highly recommend it! the only difference between the pro is that it does the 900 degree steering. glad when i went into pc world and saw the thrustmaster 360 wheel, it looked awful!!!

You didn't get that one did you Raify? The winning bid was £92 + £5 delivery ... you can buy it new for £82.90 plus £5.90 delivery from ConsolePlus! Bet the seller is made up ...

No, I watched it from when it was £75 but rapidly lost interest! I've found somwhere online that will do it brand new for £82 + postage, but can't justify the purchase of it yet.

next month perhaps....

I've got one, but the force feedback only lasted about 8 months (and I'd lost the receipt )

I can't bring myself to buy another identical one. If I get the Pro, I'll be "upgrading", and not replacing the faulty one!

at least that what I keep telling myself

Well, I've gone and bought one, and it's all PH's fault!

All those threads about GT4 have tipped the balance, and I couldn't resist the new wheel.

Bought online for £90 and hoping that it doesn't take the advertised "up to 2 weeks" to come!

Nordschliefe in a M coupe here I come I always wanted to go there in the breadvan, but I sold it before I got the chance!

Yup, I caved in last night too.

£84.99 from www.gameseek.com. They say I should have it withing 5 days. £4.99 for delivery. Hope they're speedier than www.simplygames.com who're taking forever to get the game to me!

The place I got it from (gameplay.co.uk) only charge 0.84p for delivery! The wheel itself is more than consoleplus, but it's still only £90.98 delivered.

that's got to be the cheapest delivery charge for something that bulky I've ever seen!

Now I'm hoping I can walk into a shop and buy the game when the wheel arrives. I can't buy it before, I'll never be able to resist playing!

Can someone just re-confirm what is generally considered the best wheel? The Logitech force feedback yes?

The V8 wireless wheel that came free with the GT4 is just so crap, I have thrown it away already. The other wheel we have is a very old Thrustmaster, and it is annoying me, its not very linear in its action, turning is more like an on/off switch for left or right.

Whats the most realistic turning response?

Can anybody comment on the difference between the normal driving force, and the driving force pro? Is it worth getting the pro just for the 900 deg rotation, or is the build quality better?

I've already got the regular one but it started to feel a bit loose after a few (hundred) rally laps on GT4 prologue.

Get yourself over to the GT Planet forums here: www.gtplanet.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=55

There's a couple of dedicated wheel threads.

I've got the 'ordinary' Driving Force wheel, but the frigging thing has stopped doing feedback so I've decided to replace it with the pro. The Pro has a small gear lever on the right, not sure if it has flappy paddles as well.

Also, it seems that it might not come with the lap attachment, although I'm not sure how useful that would be when you're trying to use all 900°. with the old one you could just hold the wheel at 10 to 2.

Can't wait for the thing to arrive! Nordschliefe here I come.
