Hi everyone,

My ageing CPU (now a GPL workhorse!) is about to be placed in the bin.

What sort of system are people using and what results are they getting for GTR?

I cant really justify £1000+ on the latest kit just to play a few games so what do you think I should be aiming for?

Is that a 64 or 128MB graphics card BTW?

they are 128Mb.

Mine is a AMD 3500+ 64bit, GF4Ti4400, 1Gb Ram and it ran a little suttery on max detail, but acceptable enough,

[showoffmode]
I've just got a new PC with SLI enabled motherboard running two Geforce 6600GTs....
[/showoffmode]

Think I might get hold of this game and give it an outing. Is it released yet?

I need a new PC, or a serious upgrade on this laptop. I need this game. It's like someone's read my mind as to what my perfect game would be

Very broad question here, but will my on-board graphics (Integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics 2) be ok?

Cheers

This link seems to think it has 64MB so should be fine, I'm running a 64mb GeForce MX440 at the moment but due to put a 256MB card in tommorow when it arrives and it's been fine just have to manage the settings turn down a few bits for 30fps.

So what would you need to run the game flat out?

256MB card, 2.5GHz + processor and 1GB RAM???

It would all depend on the graphics card and CPU not just the speed in MHz. Also it depends on how you define maxed out, full detail or full detail with graphics card features such as AA/ AF also the resolution you want to run at and what frame rate You find acceptable. I'm sure Even the Best PC (say; 4GHz A-64, 1024Mb PC400, ATI X850XT, etc.) could be made to struggle with full detail, 4x or 6x AA, 8x AF at 1600x1200.

I've got a 3.5Ghz A-64, 1024 Dual Channel PC-400, ATI 9700Pro and it runs nicely @:

full detail, 800x600 and 4x AA
full detail, 1024x768, and 2xAA

The Graphics seem a bit bland and don't look like they use any new technologies like shaders provided by DX9

I'm actually quite supprised it wasn't faster on my PC!

EDIT to say; but i've only got the demo so maybe the full game has higher quality textures etc.? Also even though I'm selecting full detail maybe it isn't using that mode 'cause I keep getting a message telling me my PC does NOT meet the games minimum requirements when i enter the config utility

apparently the game's physics engine is checked 400 times a second!! sounds unlikely to me.. but if true, the CPU must be doing little else given all the details that are processed in the physics engine!! especially with 8+ cars on track!!

would have thought that the speed of the game is basically down to the graphics card.. and that's going to depend on how well/what card they've optimised most on..

I've been having problems with my graphics card - Ati 9800 Pro. It seemed to be overheating and textures started going corrupt (also had this on FarCry). This I found was caused by using drivers later than Catalyst 3.7 - in 3.8 and later 9800Pro and others seem to have had problems with overheating. Once I switched back to the 3.7 driver all problems were solved!

Graphics card update. Used Spa as a test.

Right I'm now running a 256MB card on my 2.p1ghz AMD 2400+ 512MB ram.

All graphics set to max at 1600x1200 32 bit colour FPS - 17-27
All graphics set to max at 1280 x1024 32 bit colour FPS not less than 29 observed, usually 32-33.

With some unecssary ones like player car High Resolution off, high res cockpits off, normal player car skin set high not full, draw ahead normal and swaying trees turned off you can get more. Little more adjusting with more cars too for personal preference.

PS I'm no longer running with low TC I've taken it off both NGT and GT cars now I am used to it and I'm going a little quicker as there isn't anything stopping me get the power down out of the corners. Running with no aids on at all now

But best of all I have GPL running constantly at 36+ on 1600x1200 even high the latest Monaco Rocks updates.

I installed GTR this morning, and it seems no matter what I do with my pedals, linking the axis, unlinking, whatever, the brake pedal is always fully applied unless the throttle is on.

Basically it's unplayable as a result, which has me gutted.

edit to add

I'd be grateful if anyone has a logitech wingman profile they can export and email to me to see if I can get it working?

Thanks!

I don't usually bother with the Wingman Profiler. I just make sure in the device properties it's set to split axis and use the ingame setup.
