... I cant get it to work, has anyone here be successful?

Xbox support (politely) dont want to know as apparently AOL isnt officially supported and AOL support is full of numpties who just reiterate the instructions from the AOL front page verbatim.

Im connecting with crossover cable via the pc and its an XP system with AOL9. On the setup screen it confirms the cable connection is ok and verifies the IP add but falls over at the DNS thingy..whatever that is ?

help !!!!!!!

Where do you get the DNS error?

basically the dns is an ip address where the computer goes to to find out the IP address of the target when you enter somthing like www.gameserver.com

If you open the network connection from your taskbar by clicking the "two screen" icon, click support then click details and this will show you what DNS server you are using. Try putting this into the DNS server section on the XBox live setup.

Thanks for comming back guys !

Ok...at home and got it all in front of me now.
I dont actrually know what a dns is .. but I do know mine apparently is 'not resolved'.

Ive followed all the AO-Hell instructions and set up an alternative connection that makes the b.b connection without using the aol software so all ok there I hope. However when I use the Xbox dash to try and connect it goes to the 'connection status' screen and confirms that Cables are connected and then the IP settings are configured. Its the next step which is the DNS Not Resolved but its stops at that stage.

Following Tycho's instructions I get to 'DNS Server' and its blank.

I got this error (DNS not resolved)

One thing I found the other day in a mates place was that the cable modem had to be completely turned off and back on again so it could re-read the MAC address of the thing it's connected to.

Worked fine afterwards.

I was connecting direct from the Xbox to the modem by the way.
