well they're both out the same week!
my DrivingForcePro is on order..

so which do I get first!?!? and before you say it, no, I can't justify £80 on games after having shelled out £80 on a wheel.. so it'll have to be one at a time!

suggestions on a postcard..

GT4 definately, how many other games can boast the amount of time they spent developing the nurburgring

GTR. But then I like simulations. You can get 2 versions of the Nurburgring with GTR as add-on tracks, of which more are appearing. Latest ones being Monaco, Oesterreichring and Bathurst.

adding to this.. I just downloaded the second demo of GTR at work today.. having already played the first one to death!

am I doing something wrong (bear in mind no wheel as yet), or is the 360 a bit of a pig?

seem to get horrendus unending understeer, followed by massive and savage momentum oversteer !?!?!

Saleen seems better.. although steering and first gear is really just the lazy way of not using the rear-view mirror..

think I will prob get GT4 first, as I will have been playing the GTR demo for a few weeks with my wheel (once it arrives) already by the time they're both out.. plus GT4 will be more instant gratification on the 'ring.

frankly, the thought of trying to pilot that Saleen round the green hell is just plain scarey!!!

anybody remember where it is you get them from? seem to remember it wasn't the logitech site!?!?

These sort of games (GPL, GTR & RBR especially) crave a wheel, if you don't have one, don't waste your money buying the game...

RBR !?!? what's that then?

re i the wheel worth it, think about trying to drive home this evening, with a throttle that's either ON 100%, or OFF.... think you might have a bit of trouble!

you don't need a wheel for GT3/4, as they're nowhere near as "sim" as GTR/GPL etc.. but it adds to the experience...

RBR = Richard Burns Rally.

I'm with Pierscoe, a pad simply won't cut it on simulations (GT4 will not be a simulation no matter what they tell you - simulations are particulary commercial).

I tried GTR with a dualshock, while I was waiting for my wheel to arrive..

damn site better than a keyboard, but the throttle is still digital... and no matter how carful you are with the steering, a 700bhp saleen with a digital throttle is NOT fun!

GTR looks like it'll be only slightly less difficult than GPL, but almost as rewarding to master.

The 360 NGT feels like a pig in the demo, but there are plenty of setup options and a bit of tweaking of the controller options seems to have improved things.

Saleen driving position seems really low, guess that's realistic - just can't see where I'm going!

Anyway GT4 and GTR pre-ordered from Amazon - going to be a great March 05

Any plans for a PH GTR championship?

Have you tried moving the seat. Hold down left mouse button and move the mouse forward and back to move forward and back in the cockpit. Hold down right mouse button and move the mouse forward/back to change seat height. :-)

Now you can pretend to be Justin Wilson

Although I do keep mine realistic, the worst view is out the Viper. A V10 is hard to see around

You can also set the field of view in the PLR (player file) I've not done this but you just change the settings there, techy bit I'm staying clear of for know as it all works fine for me

have been gradually getting my times down on the demo, since the arrival of my DrivingForcePro... still not great, but I only get to do a few laps a day... down to 2m17s in the S7 now.. will keep practising

Think I'll be getting GT4 first, for it's pick-up-and-play'able-ness... then I can keep practising on the demo of GTR, and get that at a later date...

Something seemed to click this afternoon - not sure whether my PC hadn't picked up the wheel properly, but force feedback was a lot stronger and the 360 NGT started to handle properly. Still sruggling to get below 2:32 in the 360, but that's only 10s off the AI cars

Can't wait for GTR to land on the doormat now; very impressed.

Wahey!! at last I'm quicker than somebody!

sorry turbo, but trying to match FWD's times is soul-destroying

ditto the thing aboutthe 360.. a couple of settings changes all but eradicated the understeer.. and I managed a lap of 2:27:6 !!

actually prefer it to the Saleen now.. but it has a weakness.. any hint of trail-braking into a corner has it swap ends faster than a thing that swaps ends really fast!! loads of traction out of the corners though, and knife-sharp turn-in!
