1) yes.. how big's your wallet.. you can get 1Gb memory sticks.. plenty of mp3's!

2) RidgeRacer, Wipeout, Lumines, Golf, Mercury, GTA, GT4, are all said to be around very soon after UK release, first 4 are available already.. there are others.

3)keep your eyes peeled.. I would think sometime in march/april

4) games are region free, and language is switchable from the OS, so buying one from Japan is fine in that respect.. would have thought that there will be region-specific-ness for movies available on UMD.. but who knows whether they'll use the same region system as DVD.. !??!

5) as mentioned on another thread.. it'll play mpeg4, but in it's own format, but software is freely available to re-code your existing divx's etc

Hope This Helps

I would add to (4) and note that whilst the unit's language is switchable (English and Japanese), it does not "translate" games. So Japanese games are largely useless without speaking Japanese or having an English manual.

Ridge Racer's fine though.

For reference, I can get just over 3hrs of good quality video on a 512Mb stick (which is actually 480Mb when formatted).

Very, very cool gadget.

I would agree with that. Ridge Racer is cool, and easy... Metal Gear: Acid is more of a challenge.

(Am hoping to sell mine, as I could do with the cash!)

I'm in Tokyo! Had mine since 19th Dec

They're all full spec as far as I know.

Battery is a rechargable. The charger is a 2 stage affair, one part being the lead to the plug socket. It's a standard "small 2 pin" computer type connector (think it's called an IEC C8 lead) and the other half supports international voltages, so all you'd need is a plug adapter or, better still, a different lead.

On a full charge, the battery will last up to 6hrs or so playing games/watching video. Probably a good deal longer for MP3s.

As for what you should be paying, it's up to you

Here in Japan they cost the equivalent of 100 quid, or 130 quid for the Value Pack (including case, 32Mb memory stick, headphones, remote, strap). They were going on Ebay for anything up to 800USD when first released, but seem to have died down to around the 2-250USD mark now on Ebay, and around 380USD from known good importers.

You can get them on Ebay in the UK for about 220 quid now I think, and I guess the street price will be around 150-175 quid in the UK when they are finally released.

Would I pay extra for one? Probably not. It's a toy, and when Sony get their act together they'll make as many as they can sell (which will be lots). So a month after general release you're going to look a bit daft if you pay a serious premium for one.

Top gadget, but not worth spunking money on unnecessarily.

Need for Speed Rivals is pretty sweet. Not a fan of the Undeground game as the cars are......underground, but the game is better than ridgeracer.

I am sitting with the machine on my lap now. It is so sweet. Bought a 1gb card too as it was so cheap so I am a happy bunny.

GT4, FIFA and Tekken5 will be all I need now.

Oh, if you get a chance, get hold of FIFA Street for the PS2, such a sweet game.

I got a look at a PSP today. Battery was flat, unfortunately, so although I got to 'play' with it, I couldn't actually turn it on.

Looks nice and meaty. Screen area is good. However, the unit is surprisingly heavy, especially compared with Gizmondo (which is due to be launched in 10 days' time).

What I want to know is when 'Pursuit Force' is going to be released?
