Ok as GT4 is taking forever, I thought id have another go at gt3. I use a Logitech wheel, and have recently got one of those driving station things (no I dont have a life!). Anyway, Ive allways found the RR cars in the game to be hard to control in a slide, ie when a slide starts it keeps on going into a spin, no matter how fast I am with the opposite lock. This has never seemed realistic. So is there a good car/set up for controlable sliding? Ive heard maybe RUF RGT or Tuscan.
Also the "drift" set ups in GTvault, do they work?

I spent a while doing this, and found that the best cars was the RX-7, the best track is the wet, night-time track.
Also good are:

Nissan Sylvia, Gillet Vertigo. I never had much luck / fun drifting the 4wd cars.

I didn't use those GT vault settings, just fiddled around with the traction control / lsd settings. Also found it useful to swap tyres, for example put soft on front, hard on rear. If you search the Gran Turismo forums on Playstation.co.uk you'll find lots of info.

I like the Mustang Cobra with un modified suspension. Slides like an absolute bastard.

Simulation tyres on a 600BHP TVR Griffith with rock hard suspension always works for me!

What he said. Additionally:

Nissan Skyline R34 minus TC. Great slider round stage 5 and Grand Valley

Aston Vantage. Lots of weight to help build momentum, huge torque to unstick the rear.

Anyone else been playing GT3 a lot more recently in the run up to GT4's launch?

All aston martin's, but particuarly the vanquish and vantage all done up with no computer aids will have you drifting round all the corners

Definately the most rewarding when you get it right. I remember spending ages on Apricot Hill with this car - finally I did the perfect lap, huge powerslide on each corner. The most satisfying lap I ever did (and I've done a lot of laps in that game!)

VX220 with everything fitted (300+bhp if I remember correctly).

Not only does it slide smoothly, but its so easy to keep there for ages.

simply has to be the RX7.. no other car is as adjustable, and can hold, and come back from, such angles..

S15 Spec R is also good, kicks out faster though, and it's point of no return is at a lesser angle

Gotta second the Vanquish when all dolled up - and oh boy does it sound good as well....

Fun when you turn off the traction control and other driver aids = wheel spin in top gear.
