Hi,im more into playing PC games but i was along at my mates and i was playing needforspeed 2 on his PS2,i said how good the graphics looked and i thought about getting one,i decided to go for an Xbox in the end and bought Need for speed 2 also, when i switch on the game on my TV (32 inch Sony Trinitron)the graphics are obviously visibly not as good as the PS2,s?Hows that? The reason i went for the Xbox was i read a lot of sites comparing the two consoles and there really wasn't much argument about which console had the better graphics, the Xbox,im just really disappointed by the way the cars look, the blockiness around the edges, everything just isn't as defined as my mates Ps2 and his TV,s older? Also is there no way of using the control just to the right of the left joystick control for turning left and right?Doesn't seem to be in the presets.

Xbox graphics are effectively handled by a Geforce3 Ti500

So in a console install its true potential is going to be at least slightly compromised by the fact that its set to television resolution...

Make sure you have the brightness set correctly in Need For Speed 2, it really does make quite a difference to the graphics. If it is still bad then I don't know what to suggest. If you are playing on a bigger TV than your mate was the lower resolution of consoles would be more apparent though.

The cable out of the box won't be RGB. You need to buy an RGB cable to get the best picture.

ps2 has clever antialiasing that ' fogs ' the graphics, making them appear smoother, when in reality the xbox wants to show of its superior shading etc by not fogging, plus the sony trinitron is well known for being jaggy as apposed to other tv's,so it isnt a nice combination..and I would put money on it that a true rgb ( no sound ) cable will make it worse !

try the x-box on his tv to see what its like ?

A lot of games are developed for PS2 first, then ported across to Xbox as it can run a "PS2" game easily, add a few effects and voila twice the sales for hardly any more effort...

That could be the problem here, rather than just hardware issues.

I've got mine into a Sony Wega via an S Video cable and the graphics are better quality than my ps2. The standard cable isn't very good.
